I feel like this is their reaction to the video. The Marlins President was so smug in that video it doesn't help any franchises as far as getting public money. I hope cities start calling their bluff. I'd love the fukkery of the Des Moines Bucks or the Albuquerque Suns or the Lincoln Bulls.

What's crazy is in a thread on RealGM, people said the owners threatening to move teams is like "The Boy Who Cried Wolf." Each league has a city that is used to threaten other teams like, "If you don't give me the money, I'm taking my team over there." Eventually, one day the team might actually move for real. The thing is one poster from Canada said there was a big publicly funded arena that blew up, was infamous and since that time most Canadian arenas are not publicly funded. It would be nuts if the threats of relocation actually happens and a Canadian city (perhaps Vancouver gets a team again) gets another crack. Many American cities are not in a place to cough up these funds. Las Vegas is making an arena in hopes of landing a team for the NHL, but the arena could also double as a basketball arena. Seattle wants an expansion NHL team too and that future arena would be able to double as a basketball arena too. But it's possible both cities build these arenas and don't get a NBA team. It will just force the Bucks or whatever other city to make an even nicer arena to stay put. More $$$ please.

One thing general public fails to take into account that often the rich are the greediest people out. Same with general politics. Just cause the owners are billionaires people assume that they'll be happy with making a nice profit as if they wouldn't scrape for every extra dollar they can get still. shyt baffles my mind.

You can't really knock Silver or the owners, they are looking out for their own self-interest. What I take issue with is the fans who hop on the "greedy players/you get millions to play a game/at my job" bullshyt and don't realize that the owners are the ones the vitriol needs to be pointed at. The owners are the ones charging the exorbitant ticket prices. They are the ones pimping cities for public funds. They are the ones getting billions to watch people play a game. But just like clockwork a bunch of cats making $25,000-$50,000 a year will completely ignore this and side with them and even more concessions will be made. The reality is millionaires who depend on this league to get their money cannot even begin to try to play chicken with billionaires who look at this shyt as a side hustle.

to be honest, it's hard to side with either side. we're talking milliionaire's vs billionaire's. to 99.999999% of us that's life changing money no matter how you slice it. I think both sides are greedy and trying to get the most outta the other.

Silver trying to act like the teams are copper status when they are platinum plus. Don't even ask me how brehs.

People gotta remember he works for the owners, so in this labor negotiations, he's always gonna take their side and try to do what benefits them the most.

I hope the players start saving their money now, cause we could be in for an extended stoppage

Players need to start preparing financially now for a lock-out. Dudes need to stash and save as much of their salaries/income as possible so they won't have cash flow problems and negotiate from a position from weakness after a month or two after a lock-out. The owners are well aware of the players extravagant spending habits and are tactical in waiting it out. No fancy cribs, no expensive whips, no exotic this and that, and especially no thirsty high maintenance thots and baby mama traps.

Professional Financial Planners and highly credited tax accountants should be in high demand for these athletes. Venus and Serena Williams were blessed with good fiduciaries to look after their earnings.

There's only so many cities they can use. NBA can only really use Vegas and Seattle. Once those cities get teams they lose their bluff leverage. Same with the NFL and LA. I know they got their "market research" but they're idiots if they think they can move the Jaguars to LA and it'll work. The Niners got called by SF and now they're in Santa Clara with an college looking stadium and no parking for anyone that ain't a resident.

Good point about SF. There's always the option the team stays but plays 30-40 minutes/miles away from the city it represents. I can see Seattle and Las Vegas eventually getting teams. Once they're settled, the NBA will have to substitute new cities to use against the current cities with teams. Kansas City has a nice arena that can house basketball and so does Louisville. But I don't think those two cities have the pull/pressure that Seattle and Las Vegas do. This arena strategy of theirs is getting more naked by the day.
