ATLANTA
Outkast started 20 years ago some nikkas got microwave mentalities fam. They well respected tho. Those 3 concerts they did in Centennial this summer was CRAZY. They get the respect that legends deserve from the real nikkas in atlanta. Yea the young fukk boys dont really vibe with Kast, but they grew up on Gucci n them. Kast didnt do a good job of keeping they names ringing because Andre is so introverted. Although he has been out in the streets recently. I know they was all at the Blue Flame last week with Ceelo. Its just like nikkas in the A today are more influenced by Gucci more than anything.

there is a reason. atl listeners support like no other. southern fans support like no other. which is a good thing. but it backfires when whats being produced is bad to mediocre, those same fans will support regardless of the talent. they dont care. "we winning" , "represent the A" is all they care about. no matter how lame, how terrible some of these rappers may be. Because the south isnt KNOWN for lyricism and serious production and just telling great stories, etc. They are known for and have always been known for creating party songs, club music, trap music. thats it. now sure some of us older heads know they had more than that to offer way back when. but these youngins only really are up on the nonsense rap.

lastly, i have a funny feeling if someone ran the numbers of online fans. The south in general would win over any other region. Why? because truth be told. there is nothing to do in these places but hop on line all day long. So the fans are in the internet streets going hard for all of their favorite Atl/Southern artists. since online is now where its at and has been this way for years. this is another reason i believe they will remain on top. its just too much to do in other areas in the US.

and lets not kid ourselves. what is there to do in the ATL? go to the strip club and then...... Go to the club...and then.....uhhh...uhh get something to bar... and then go back to the strip club. thats about it.

so they are playing that music and loving it because thats all they have to do around those parts. since the rap landscape is no longer about talking about your personal struggle, or your people's struggle. its about talking up yourself and how great you are at getting money. it fits right in.

The industry loves it, since its easily replaceable. meaning if one of these southern dudes in up in jail, die, or just stop rapping. it wont matter. on to the next one. its not like the last guys music was timeless/or great. it was just barely ok if that. anyone can make that kind of music. Next.... like a assembly line.

There is no such thing as another outkast or goodie mob. they were from the same crew and even they sounded different from one another. you cant replicate these groups. PERIOD.

You can't replicate jay Z, they've tried. You can't replicate 2pac, Ice Cube, LL, Fab...Guru(rip), Too short(as simple as he was. has there ever been another?NOPE), you cant replicate snoop. sorry you just cant do it. they tried to replicate biggie TWICE. and it didnt really work. you cant replicate Pun unless its his son. these guys die or get old or get thrown in jail whatever. thats it. There is no OTHER NAS. I havent seen another redman yet. i havent seen a crew as hard as The Wu, Tribe, Nwa, outkast, ghetto boys since. dont get me wrong, no limit was doing their thing and so was the hot boys. but lets keep it 150. i would say the hot boys came close to a new era ghetto boys. i'll give them that.

wayne cant even be replicated.

Jay Elec is old and slow with the release date. more or less because that type of Real hiphop still may not sale like it should yet. so they dont want to put him out and it not blow like it should. you know, it could easily fall on deaf ears. and he's from the south. you see how they doing big Krit. not enough love for that brotha.
:francis: fukk this nikka talking bout, so tell me all the activities yall have in the west

U think nikkaz go to the strip club everyday(then u lumped the entire south wit atl strip culture) I can only speak for New Orleans but something is always popping here

:what: nikka wtf do you think the south is? A lost, forgotten part of the world or something? If it was like that then they would even get internet service. You're talking stupid simply because you don't care for music from Atlanta, typing essays and shyt?

I'd personally rather listen to any of Migos 3-4 mixtapes than any Outkast album :yeshrug:

They make better and more enjoyable music to me than Outkast ever has.

And Outkast/Dungeon family were kind of a anomaly in ATL rap sonically...nobody in their city really sounded like them before or after...and they never really had a big impact on the sound of ATL rap...3-6 had a much bigger impact on the sonic/stylistic landscape of ATL rap than Outkast...

And for the record.....

T-Rock >>>>>>> Big Boi & 3K lyrically

Stupid thread anyway...

In what major rap region/city today are rappers still making music on par with the so-called past "legends" in their city/region?

Is anybody in Houston today making music on par with Face/Geto Boys etc.? Kirko Bangz? :mjlol:

Is anybody in NY today making music on par with Biggie, Rakim, Public Enemy etc.? Bobby Schmurda? :mjlol:

Is anybody in the Bay today making music on par with Spice 1 & Too Short?

Anybody in Memphis making music on par with 3-6/Project Pat, 8Ball & MJG?

Anybody in the N.O. making music on par with Juvie, BG, P, C, Mystikal etc.?

We clearly have a nationwide problem here that can't be restricted to one city or region...but i'd say ATL rappers today hold it down better than rappers from any other city/region. :ehh:

For the young generation, all they know music for is to turn up. Nothing more. Sad that Hip Hop been reduced to a parody.

Gucci Mane did more harm than good for souther rap as a whole. It made the sub genre stale as fukk and reduced potent lyricism. It's all hard beats and catchy hooks.

i was being specific about the A having a literal strip club CULTURE. its not just a random strip joint in some industrial part of town like it is in every city. But its a THING for folks in the A. This is on people's to do list. and its not a some very small amt of people either. its a lot. dudes and chicks.

of course there's other things to do. but its a big enough thing for a lot of people to think its on the list as something to do. strip joints are in L.a. cali. people go. but its a very very very small minority of people going to strip joints outside of a bachelor party or something along those lines. nuccas in the A are going there for the wings like its a sports bar.

But one of the reason that became a THING is because the A wasnt known for having a bunch of nice sports bars back in the day before all the masses moved down there. So they are still stuck in that culture. Which is why the music that comes out of there even if its a transplant thats down there trying to hustle their music. it has to go thru the strip club first. then it hits the regular club. then it gets some run commercially. we're talking non trap boy music.

the rest of the south has things to do. but lets keep it 150. there's a reason everyone wants to live in NY, DC, Chi, LA, Seattle, these places. if it wasnt for the ridiculous cost of living in these places. these places would be where all the black folks would be living. the only reason we're still in the south like that is because on average we're some of the brokest people in the nation. so we can only afford so much when it comes the cost of living in a city. it is..what it is.

Its literally too much to do in L.A. so much so no one really cared enough to put a NFL team here because us citizens were not even trippin that hard. sure we love sports and the nfl like everyone else. but the owners were afraid that we wouldnt show up to the games cause we have a 1000 other things to get into . that is never the case with the south and a lot of midwest spots(not chi).
