Brand Nubian? It was on par definitely but better? Dunno bout it...now gotta go listen to both
I heard the advance, don't remember that at all.
If that were true it would have leaked.
That beat still gives me chills. It's heavenly.
Sounds legendary... sometimes I wish I was old enough to experience something like this in the 90s
at Nas for not releasing Lost Tapes 2 and blessing us with the CDQ of those "Illmatic Demo" tracks.
“I ain’t seen this much death
I ain’t seen this much crime
Since the blackout in Queensbridge
Everything is Real
Those demo cuts are still getting plays
Life is like a dice game tho How TF did this not get a cdq release on anything, Track is SMOOTH AF
If you dont think this is top 3 ... I can't really fukk withcha ... that one dude said 400 degrees thats disgusting
soul on ice
epitome of high level wordplay and flow, over locked in straight hiphop beats. If illmatic was born near the heart... than 400 degrees would be the arms or fingers. Not even close
alot of yall dont like music for the way music makes you feel
you like music for the lies and fantasy it gives you... and it shows
thats why people like IWW, yall want that fantasy feel.
illmatic is the perfect emcees CD... it hits because the producers have kept up with the incredible emceeing. So the average listener gets stuck actually paying attention to the lyrics
meanwhile Nas is rapping so much and so smooth that it keeps your attention as well. Incredibly similar to how you can put Rakim and Eric B on at any time and it stands out.
Slow down, breh. It Ain't Hard To Tell is a perfect rap song.
Liquid swords is fukking untouchable. This is everything that a true hiphop album should be. absolute banger after banger from front to back.
Same applies for Illmatic. There's a reason Nas never hit that Illmatic level again. it couldn't be topped.
Guilty of never having heard the Ras Kass album tho, gonna have to peep that
soul on ice????
soul on ice might be my favorite to listen to of all time ... I have never been able to stop listening to that album
I highly advise a few spin.... its west coast illmatic.
what would you put in the top 3 ... that has been my go to list for a long time. I dont even have to think at this point. I guess you can substitute it with Doggystyle, but to me... doggystyle is in a different category with AOEM and commerically sounding polished albums.
