Ahh.

So its all rap music of course. Then u break it down to gangster rap, then u break that down again into production style(g funk, trap etc..) makes sense

Yeap.

You gotta seperate what the rappers are talking about (gangster rap, concious/backpacker, horrorcore) from the producton (trap, g-funk, boom bap) and it'll be clear :jawalrus:

As far as drums, it seems like trap music kind of useses boom bap patterns, only difference is they add 808s and add extra drums and snares

It's an old school rap sound that was done before producers started sampling records for kicks & snares or better equipment like the MPC, and used the roland TR-808 drum kit. That's why when I hear it I can't stop thinking it's an old school sound that is more popular now, and don't understand why people diss '80's rap music.

Not neccesarily. But daz did make that track "my life" on TI's trap music.

I'm familiar...what i'm sayin' doe, is Daz been making trap beats for umpteen years, even before "trap music" got its own lane...off top:

I hadta dap.

You could take most (if not all) of the beasts on Criminal Minded, slow 'em down about 5 bpm, and put 'em on albums today and people prolly couldn't tell the difference...

Go to 0:44 and listen to the drums. It's the same drums most trap music uses, but not as clean and loud.

This is also a trap sound just more faster. The electronic bass, drums, and old school flow.

Speaking about Criminal Minded reminded me of this joint, that was one of the FIRST trap records. He is rhyming about being IN the TRAP HOUSE or as we called it "THE GATE".

Now tell me this doesn't sound like so Icey only much slower because of the electronic sounds, and the lyrics are about STRAIGHT STREET shyt, and not buying jewelry. Remember this is in 1987 when rhyming like this was UNHEARD OF. I was a kid when this came out, and had me turned out. When 50 cent shows him rhyming this in his movie "get rich or die trying" as a kid, I did the same thing with a fake uzi that looked real, and smoke came out of it when you shot it. It also sounded just LIKE a real uzi.

If this song came out now, it would be called a trap record.
