This is where I disagree. You begrudgingly do it. Yes. But this is not something to be normalized or be proud of. There's more to life than working. We live the wealthiest country in the world yet people have to work 80 hours to put a roof over their heads? That's ridiculous. Grinding that much because you want to get ahead should be a choice not a necessity. Im not advocating not working hard or less but if a man puts in 40 hours a week, he has paid his dues to society and should be able to afford to have a family and be respected is all I'm saying.

You do not need to work 80 hours a week to make it. I am a single father bro I had to give up my supervisor position and go to working 40 hours a week because I need to be available for my son. Have I had to adjust my lifestyle and how I spend money, yes. I am still doing just fine bro on 40 hours a week. I don't get child support or nothing. A lot of folks live outside their means and don't know how to prioritize needs over frivolous expenses.

Society is a rat race, we live to work, and we work to live. Capitalism has everyone feeling incredibly insecure, unworthy, and depressed.

I was raised by men, men who were in the military and were in the trades(my dad was a lineman before he became a network engineer, my grandad and uncle were plumbers and HVAC techs(shoutout @cheek100 I know how hard those two masters licenses you got are cause my kinfolk did it.) my other uncle an electrician. True depending on the job and location. But really we in the same wavelength you talking more in general I'm talking for the brehs that are truly suffering with limited options. The majority of these young folks feel like they'll never be able to own a home. I don't think its because they are all soft and with the breadth of information available now we can see the problem with the shrinking middle class. It's an issue for sure but in the meantime if a kid is living at home they better be working or going to school. PS5 cant be on til the job is done for the day.

I feel like the right and left have all of these think pieces on why young men do what they do but no one ever asks young men why. It's like being examined under a microscope at times.

Reasons for young men from different backgrounds doing this have to be different.

For the Black young men, it many cases it's directly tied to not being raised by their Fathers . Left to fend for themselves and figure out things on their own.

Universities and think tanks conduct surveys with members of different groups all the time. I'm sure that there are studies out there about disillusioned young men with case studies and such. And people spill details of their lives 24/7 on social media so that fills in the blanks the surveys dont cover.

The most important thing is making them aware of resources that are available to them .

Don't have a plan for what to teach their children, allow screens to babysit them, not really active, not good role models, dont establish proper boundaries.

Parents of previous generations caused trauma in Gen X and Millennials but gave them a skill set. Gen X and Millennials are processing their childhood trauma through their children by deregulating, accepting everything, and abdicated their responsibilities.

Honestly, because you won’t get a straightforward answer.

People complain about a whole lot today.

Some justified, but there’s also shyt like some of them are pissed non-white people and women are now preferred for jobs.

Some of these kids are really entitled and don’t realize it, but worse some people feel sympathetic towards them although they didn’t do any of the paving like previous generations did and are actually destroying a lot of progress.

I know shyt ain’t as cheap today, but that also comes with some scaling and having to adapt to times. Nothing much was given to previous generations either.

Every generation has a bone to pick with a previous generation. So I get it, but I hate when people say kids today have it tougher than any generation in history. That’s far from accurate.

No one wanted to hear their opinions


They just gonna be told they hate women. Any critique of women in any way seems to bring that trope up
