I've always wanted to start my own bar or skateboard shop. Never going to happen though.
I own an IT consulting business. We work with small businesses to implement various technologies they need. Do everything from HIPAA audits, PCI compliance, technology strategy and implementation. Depending on the job we start at $100/hr and go up. Depending on the position I'll pay my employees $15-20/hr and sub contract them out. We also do web design and I'm thinking bout moving into web marketing as another business.
I also have another company I'm getting off the ground right now. Gonna use groupon to do my marketing for me. If things work out as I hope, should make me an additional 20-30k/mo in profit by this time next year. Most my time has been going into passing my last exam, so I really ain't been putting all my energy into it. End of the year though my businesses is gonna have 100% of my attention.
At the end of the day though, most y'all nikkas don't have the discipline, work ethic, or drive to be business owners. In the 90s I was hustling bootleg movies, software, and video games. When I was college I had a side business fixing computers.
Y'all say you want to work for yourself but you really don't, because if you did, you'd be out there doing it instead of talkin bout doing it![]()
Starting my own game development company. Targeting the mobile space. I had plans to contract out the artwork, but decided to do it myself. At least for now. Since im not much of an artist will probably do some retro stuff to start. Sucks having the code ready to go and no art except for placeholders.
The great thing though is the only startup cost is my time.lol Currently running on 3 - 4 hrs a sleep a night.
yo, hopin' you could pass on some game to a young fella like me.
I finished university and have been working in web marketing for about 1.5 years at a medium sized agency... all our clients are medium-large businesses.
I work primarily in web analytics.... and was thinking about getting started providing my services to small businesses in my local area..
I have a basic idea of the services i would provide (nothing drastic as it would be a side thing and i wouldn't quit my job at this point... would pretty much be bare minimum analytics services for companies that have websites/social media etc etc).
My question is what were your first steps to get started? Did you go out to random businesses and just start pitching?
References?
Talk about early days breh.

what kind of game?
not really a secret but the marijuana business is bubbling like crazy right now. with legalization so close, whether you personally oppose it or not from a business standpoint its like the internet in the early 90s.

There have been so many books in the last few years on the subject.
If you dont get it by now, youre just not going to get it.
thats a broke persons mindset. The books themselves are a business. You will never go broke selling dreams

And those are the kinds of business opportunities you don't want to run to, you are going to be competing with a lot of money and more than likely get lost just like most of those internet companies........

If you can be innovative with a marijuana business you have a better chance. I use to have a travel business, we did well, made money but split up because of different ideas on the direction but at the end of the day had fun and enjoyed what I did. The key to business in my opinion is to be either innovative or touch a market that hasn't been touched, other than that you need to heavy capital to do traditional ideas. Most people that start a business have absolutely horrible ideas and usually have no realistic business plan, no direction.
