Depends what you mean by "better"

Curry is obviously up there in PRODUCTION, numbers back that up and just watching the games makes it somehow foolish to deny this. It's not unheard of either (well maybe for the length of a season it is) because if I remember correctly Glen Rice was actually scoring than MJ in the second half of the 97 season.

But imo MJ and Kobe had more WAYS of scoring. Jump-shot, 3 pointers (not their main weapon), post-ups, lay-ups, tip-ins, and so on and so forth. Not surprising given that they were both taller and thus could work in the post and the offensive boards on a regular basis, as opposed to Curry.

For me it's like comparing Shaq to Olajuwon. Shaq scored more than Olajuwon, but Olajuwon had more WAYS of scoring. It's just that, both Shaq (post-up) and Curry (3 pt line) have damn-near unstoppable "go-to" moves.

KD is not a better scorer than Curry and again, Steph Curry is having one of the greatest offensive seasons in NBA history. :snoop:

@Rabid Ewok

Would you hold it against him if he played a few extra minutes a game in blowouts against 2nd units, while he scores another 3-4 points a game?
Not at all. Not his job to keep the game close. Him sitting does lessen the chances of his Nabisco ankles returning probably
But again who is to say he automically scores those extra points, or even maintains his current output if hes playing those extra minutes on defense and offense without the long rest periods?

He averaged 38 minutes (78 games) in 2013 - there's no reason to suggest he couldn't average close to those minutes again without a significant injury (his ankle issues are well in the past). My next question would be - if he were to average a few more minutes a game putting up what would be in essence meaningless points when games are out of reach, against second units (increasing his ppg from 30 to 33/34), would you then say he's on the same level as prime MJ and prime Kobe?

If you aren't willing to use common sense, then think of it like this - while Curry is on the court he has the SAME impact as prime MJ and prime Kobe on the offensive end.

Lebron said he was tired after scoring 60 points.

This is Lebron. Never been injured. Freak of an athlete. A tank of an NBA player.

And he was gassed after trying to score so many points.
The point of mentioning LeBron scoring 61 is? Curry just had a 51-point game in 36 minutes just a week ago and he had a 53-point game in 36 minutes earlier in the season.
I don't even gotta argue man. If it was so easy, tell the nikka to do it. Start dropping them 50 point, 60 point games back to back to back. Let's see it :manny:
His team isn't bad enough for him to do this, Kerr already has strict rotations and won't veer away from them too much if he doesn't need to.

So KD, a four time scoring champ, multiple 40, 50 point games, isn't a better scorer than a guy having his first truly great season :jbhmm:

nikkas forget KD plays with GOATbrook. If he didn't he'd be scoring 35 a night.

Curry is having a goat shooting season, it's a hot streak, it won't last multiple years like MJ, Kobe, Durant...

Curry is better than Lebrons ever been tho.

You really are as arrogant and condescending as advertised
So only your line of thinking is what can be called common sense, i see you. If you aren't willing to not come off like your high and mighty projected figure databases are the judge's gavel, then I'm done talking to you

Because he only plays 33.8 minutes a game. This is his scoring output per 36 mins next to Kobe's and MJ's best seasons:

Curry - 31.7 ppg on 20.9 shots per game
MJ - 33.4 ppg on 25 shots per game (his next best season is 31.2 ppg on 21.7 shots per game)
Kobe - 31.1 ppg on 23.9 shots per game (his next best season is 27.9 ppg on 20.1 shots per game)

I don't know about being a better scorer, but he's definitely on the same level as a prime MJ and prime Kobe.

this is where you have to actually have to sit back and forget the numbers and remember the players that played.

When steph wins 7 straight scoring titles then we can discuss him being on the level of MJ. I don't care what the "stats" say. You can manipulate stats to paint whatever picture you choose.

I could bring up pace, systems, styles, etc... But it's not neccessary.

Steph 2015-2016 is the first season in his career where he's averaged over 24ppg but u sayin he's the best scorer ever off 1/2 a season :bryan:
Jordan didn't average below 28 in a full season until he was old as shyt with the Wizards

But steph is the best scorer ever :bryan:

:patrice:I mean I've never seen anyone given as much defensive attention as Steph, and I've never seen anyone shoot the 3 ball as well as him...

If we're simply speaking on how efficiently he scores then sure. But as far as whoever has the bigger arsenal of moves then it's def Kobe and MJ. Doesn't exactly matter with Curry tho since he can effortlessly get his shot off over 7 footers if given the space

Also if you're referring to his overall body of work then I think we need to give him some more time. He could be up there if he produces like does right now over the next 3 or 4 years.
