How can you want to discuss issues to the community as a whole, but we do not offer all an equal voice in that discussion? I do not expect the wealthy to have the same interests as the poor, and this is true with all privileged/marginalized identities within our community.

I am really interested to see what you are reading to inform your theories. I am working on my PhD in Afro-American Studies, and I have taken many courses on Black politics, the carceral state, history, etc. That is why I am so hard on your talking points, because while you may have good intentions, you do not realize that your solutions have been around forever. LITERALLY.

Substitute the War on Drugs with segregation and this exactly what Booker T Washington was advocating for in the 1880s.

Your views are not intersectional, and they perpetuate a talented tenth; you think it is you're responsibility to uplift your race, and educate the ignorant in your race, but whenever I see you talk about shyt like this its always, "what THEY need to do" or "If Black folks could (insert a JJG belief here)..." insinuating that the rest of black folks need to do what YOU think is a proven route towards success in a White man's society.

When I educate students, it is meant to empower them to build themselves into whatever they want to be. I offer no overarching solutions for us as a people anymore because the second I do, I am no better than Michael Eric Dyson, Stephen A Smith, or any other celebrity who feels obligated to talk down to the rest of the race (Bill Cosby).

P.S.- What makes you think these conversations as a community haven't been happening? Historically speaking, we have been addressing our issues collectively better than any other marginalized identity out here. When we talk about how bad we are doing in America, I think we do ourselves a disservice by not looking at our accomplishments/resiliency/strength. We are the strongest people in America, and when we think about where we are, its time we stop internalizing these issues and start holding the white man more accountable for his generational sins. Its only so much we can fix about a perpetuated racist society.
First off, I'm glad you are getting you PhD congrats :salute: Also, I'm glad you're being hard on me that's what creates good dialogue. However, I personally feel that the issues need to be brought to the forefront. Listen, we have a lot of our people in the Black Community doing their own thing and lost. It's time we set an agenda. I don't think I'm better than the next man beside me. I'll ask you this with respect, what should we do to get Black folk at a better place as a whole? Yes, we have Black millionaires and billionaires, but I feel as a whole we need to be in a better place. That's why I group us together breh.

not just the sjw's, but some black men have been asking for a seat at the white mans table (validation) for centuries and still aint got it :yeshrug:

I'm talking about the Primaries to be frank. You must have forgotten that Marco Rubio (Cuban) and Ted Cruz (runner Up mixed Cuban) were in the primary. They got buzz and yes Marco lost his home state Florida, but he had people turn out for him his own. My point, we didn't have that with Ben Carson. He tried to reach out to the Black community. Because I remember when he met with Al Sharpton. I see the bigger picture, but I don't think you get the point I'm making. They had a set agenda (they lost), but they made their point clear. We need an agenda. Is that hard to ask? I feel we need to have BOTH political and economic power in this country.

Ben Carson didnt have any agenda apart from getting elected, he was and is a fukking idiot, if you couldnt tell that from the crap coming out of his mouth then I dont know what to tell you

you reason like a child, you assume because a politician is black they are interested in black issues and helping the black community, even if they have gone out of their way to dispel that notion .....

You really havent thought things through ......

I didn't say because they are black they have our best interest. Hell, my former mayor (Black) didn't have our best interest. Like I said, my point is to infiltrate the two parties and FORCE their hand. That's always been my point. Never have I said blindly vote for someone.

You cannot help anyone without helping yourself, and seeing your growth as integral to that of the collective. That is with anybody, including me.

"What can I do to help US get to a better place?"
1.Stop victim blaming ourselves for this system. We talk about buying land, but do you really think the powers at hand would allow that to happen? Its damn near unfeasible. Especially when you think that we don't even strive to live in our communities; we would rather go to the suburbs. When I buy a house, I will make sure it is in a Black community.

2.Take better care of ourselves. One thing about our collectivism, is that we have always been our own best friends. In the face of murderers and thieves, we consoled each other, and while drama has always existed, it doesn't have to remain supreme. Myself too, gotta put down the Newports one day.

3. Make sure we educate our youths and instill a work ethic in them to long term hustle, and not just think short term.

4. Treat our children better and stop distinguishing between who's black and who aint. If you are part of the African Diaspora you are Black. African American is an ethnicity like Haitian Americans and thats cool. But we all black and we need to see that Black is truly beautiful.

1.) Independence from government infrastructures. Did u know that in three short generations we went from a nation of people who provided EVERYTHING FOR THEMSELVES, to one that is is dependent on infrastructure to supply their every need?
My grandfather and grandmother didn't pay bills except for electricity. They drilled their own wells for water, grew their own food as farmers, made clothing and food of such good quality that they generated income from selling cakes and clothes, bought everything cash, built their own houses (laid hardwood floors, got help from local brickmasons, learned about Sheetrock and insulation).
They never even went to a grocery store because they lived in a community of farmers. One family had a huge rice farm, others had grain, sugar, vegetables, livestock, and so on.
The loss of these skills in exchange for a faster paced lifestyle wasn't a good social bargain for us.

what you are saying is blacks should infiltrate the Repubs like they have the Dems

point I keep on making to you which you havent addressed is for the Repubs to do anything for the black community they would lose their core vote .... why do you think Trump were endorsed by the KKK.....

so tell me why they would risk it .... strategically it makes zero sense

what you are proposing is an exercise in futility

or are you so naive in thinking you are going to get some black sleeper agent to infiltrate the party and then suddenly turn into Malcolm when he gets elected

When I mean infiltrate I mean get Black politicians who have our best interest at heart (who lean right) to infiltrate the Repubs. That's mainly the point I'm trying to make. Get real deal people in their who wants "REAL" change.

Why should we not partake in the full liberties of what our country offers?

Farmers, bankers, the military industry, and countless other industries depend on government infrastructures. Why is it only a problem when Black people receive government assistance, don't we deserve that? Welfare and Food Stamps benefit more white people than us, but why aren't they demonized for their dependence on the government? Hell, SEGREGATION was dependent on the government. Uncle Sam shielded them from being prosecuted for their crimes against us.

fukk the system. Use that bytch anyway you have to because it IS doing the same to you
