According to a friend of mine another way that the UFC might lose some luster is with a horrible steroids scandal.
I don't think that fans would care about that at all. But his argument is that the belt would lose legitimacy.
Aside from that, though. What kind of threat do you think other promotions might pose? I don't consider UFC as much of a monopoly as they're portrayed. But they do have a chokehold on American MMA

I gave it some thought last night and I think that ONE Championship might be to the world what UFC is to the Americas.
It would be cool if in the future we had these 2 mega promotions and maybe they cross promoted 2wice a year or something.
