They are just more into the music & trying to make money. Using rap as a hustle, which I have no problem with. You gotta find that balance though.

In all honesty, if you had "real nyggas" from the westcoast in battle rap, it would probably get out of hand. Westcoast Dread had Danny Myers so uncomfortable man.

Nyggas from different sets battling. The tension. The potential. That's the kind of street feel I want to hear from the west but it is never gonna happen.

This was way before the rex 12k shyt. He knows what Danny is. It's hilarious how true it actually is.

The battle just seemed too real for Danny.

My point is, once street dudes get in the mix, that's the type of thing that naturally happens. It happened all the time during URL's first run of events in NYC. It happened at the Detroit event, and at the Chicago event. Shyt got a little crazy at the first UDUBB event. Shyt, I've seen people get pressed at some of those Poison Pen Grindtime events.
NYC battlers will fly out solo or two deep to Cali to battle, but would NEVER attend a battle event in BK solo. It just shows that the hood nyggas out there aren't fukking with Cali battle rap like that.

All them livewire nikkaz was in there. E 40 brought hella Vallejo nikkaz in there. The hood starz brought like 50 east Palo Alto nikkaz in there. Richie Rich, too short. Blocks was in that bytch to support Mistah fab. A gang of hood nikkaz that I grew up with and personally know was in there breh.

Everyone came to that event to show support to Fab. He was battling & it was his birthday.

Also, let me point out the obvious. If hood nyggas really fukked with battle rap on the westcoast, there would be more urban leagues.

“Smack-URL Battle rapper/rap artist Tsu Surf has got a lot of attention over the past few months. Now its rumored that he was in a meeting with 50 Cent this week to talk signing with G-Unit Records. Surf’s popularity started to rise back in May at his battle with Tay Rock. Drake made an appearance there and told Murda Mook (who was also there) that he had to beat Surf in a battle before he could battle Drake. Fans, The internet, music labels, radio shows and every other outlet started checking out more of Tsu Surf besides his past battles after the Drake co sign.

Surf has two independent albums out already and just this past Friday he dropped another called “Newark”. Since his growing popularity, he was able to get Joe Budden, Jadakiss and Styles P to be apart of the project. As of now “Newark” is number 9 in the top albums on iTunes. The day before the album dropped he was spotted leaving G-Unit’s office in NYC. Through his Instagram, him and his management team posted pics & video clips of them at the office.

If this is true, would that be a good move for Tsu Surf?? Its good he is making the transition from Battle Rapper to Mainstream Rap Artist. His music is getting more attention and he is mentioned with Fetty Wap in being one of the top artists coming out of New Jersey. As for G-Unit, Surf could have a lot of pressure on him to “resurrect” a once prominent force/label in hip hop. Luckily if he does sign, 50 is moving in other business besides music. Surf wont have to worry about being in competition with 50 the CEO or 50 “out shining” him. Also the fans on the web listen to who they want now days and they have more control over the flow than the label execs do.”

I think you want shyt to be a little too real. West coast shyt talk, from my understanding and experience, can go nuclear very fast. East coast nikkas (I'm from bk/Baltimore) really run their mouths like chicks often. The threat of violence is real, but usually it's diva shyt of nikkas arguing. Can't count how many times I personally thought I was about to shoot a fair but the other dude was like

Not even on some punk shyt but nikkas here tend to fallback to dodge that long term fallout.

So I get that west coast battle dudes aren't as outwardly grimy and aggressive, but I don't think anyone really wants that in those environments. At some point, you gotta let them cook and realize it might be for the best to avoid that manufactured tension.
