Math was suppose to battle Westcoast Dread too

Yeah. Math would have won clearly but I'm sure Dread would have said some memorable shyt.
Dread's flow really needs work, but he was the only West Coast battle rapper who had that type of presence and content.

I think you want shyt to be a little too real. West coast shyt talk, from my understanding and experience, can go nuclear very fast. East coast nikkas (I'm from bk/Baltimore) really run their mouths like chicks often. The threat of violence is real, but usually it's diva shyt of nikkas arguing. Can't count how many times I personally thought I was about to shoot a fair but the other dude was like :whoa:

Not even on some punk shyt but nikkas here tend to fallback to dodge that long term fallout.

So I get that west coast battle dudes aren't as outwardly grimy and aggressive, but I don't think anyone really wants that in those environments. At some point, you gotta let them cook and realize it might be for the best to avoid that manufactured tension.
I'm from Brooklyn and I live in Cali now, I can tell you, it can get real very fast no matter where you are. It has nothing to do with coasts it has to do with whatever person you're around. Some people are talkers and some are reactors. Doesn't matter where you are

I don't refute any of what you're saying, but there seems to be a culture of talking shyt in these east cities. Born and raised here and I still find myself confused as to just how serious situations are, where dudes are angry at 100 but still somehow not crossing that line. My understanding of the west is that the tension between colors and crews alone leads to "no fly" zones and situations that are enforced without near as much words.

But that's my limited education on the west through fam and just some experience. I'll take whatever y'all residents say as further education.

Well banging over colors really isn't a thing out here like that nowadays, in the 90s I hear it was pretty insane tho. I think it just depends on who's around. But places like Compton are relatively safe now compared to how they used to be.

That nygga DJ Quik had his red flag on at the source awards dissing the shyt out of MC Eiht. That's the kind of shyt I want to see from westcoast battle rap. Am I crazy for wanting to see that type of shyt from westcoast battle rap?

I guess so.

Bingo. Culturally it's totally different between east coast and west coast in terms of the battle rap culture.

The east coast has always been a bit more "keep it hip hop" and they can diss each other on wax, yell in eachothers faces at a battle. But out here if you diss somebody on wax, it usually leads to violence, which is unfortunate

I personally could give a fukk about a coast. That shyt is so 90s anyway. And to bring it into this era of battle rap is corny. After a while, that bullshyt didn't matter with hip hop music anyway because, if its dope, its dope. Yeah, its no secret that the Fresh Coast always had more of the style that wasn't as street that was more notable compared to the East Coast. Sad thing is, there were street battle rappers out there but it didn't get as much notice like it or not. Matter of fact, daylyt even speaks on it, I want to say in his Untold Truth interview. Anyways, regardless of all that, still nikkas put on for the sport of battle rap. It came up in the East and from the blocks and street corners and expanded thru DVDs, online vids, big battles, and etc. And when its not a certain way (lets say overly hood and street with tons of gun bars), nikkas wanna complain. Its battle rap, not everyone is going to want to hear about gun bars or better yet, not all battle rappers want to talk about that shyt. Anyways, just fukk with what you fukk with. I just think its oddball shyt to make battle rap have an east vs. west thing when hip hop music in general already had that and got over it.

“Smack-URL Battle rapper/rap artist Tsu Surf has got a lot of attention over the past few months. Now its rumored that he was in a meeting with 50 Cent this week to talk signing with G-Unit Records. Surf’s popularity started to rise back in May at his battle with Tay Rock. Drake made an appearance there and told Murda Mook (who was also there) that he had to beat Surf in a battle before he could battle Drake. Fans, The internet, music labels, radio shows and every other outlet started checking out more of Tsu Surf besides his past battles after the Drake co sign.

Surf has two independent albums out already and just this past Friday he dropped another called “Newark”. Since his growing popularity, he was able to get Joe Budden, Jadakiss and Styles P to be apart of the project. As of now “Newark” is number 9 in the top albums on iTunes. The day before the album dropped he was spotted leaving G-Unit’s office in NYC. Through his Instagram, him and his management team posted pics & video clips of them at the office.

If this is true, would that be a good move for Tsu Surf?? Its good he is making the transition from Battle Rapper to Mainstream Rap Artist. His music is getting more attention and he is mentioned with Fetty Wap in being one of the top artists coming out of New Jersey. As for G-Unit, Surf could have a lot of pressure on him to “resurrect” a once prominent force/label in hip hop. Luckily if he does sign, 50 is moving in other business besides music. Surf wont have to worry about being in competition with 50 the CEO or 50 “out shining” him. Also the fans on the web listen to who they want now days and they have more control over the flow than the label execs do.”

Are they really trying to credit Drake name dropping Surf as to why surf is popular? He had a ton of fans way before that. "He was able to get Joe Budden.." That line proves whoever wrote this blog has no idea what they're talking about

Dread definitely lacked in a lot of areas, but he looked, sounded, & had the type of presence & content of what I would like to see from a westcoast battle rapper.

That's what I want to see.

I think nyggas on here believe I want nyggas fighing on stage & shooting each other at events.

I just want these nyggas to battle like they aren't having a debate in physics class.
