White battle rapper does a round about how silly gun and drug bars are, black fans are like "fukk outta here, get off your high horse, that's part of this shyt, fukk your rippity rappity rap de raps."

Lux does 3 rounds of lecturing and critiquing guns and drugs, black fans are like "talk to that nikka, Lux!"

HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Battling evolved from snapping on nikkas around your way. Lux has transformed into the kind of nikka who would respond to a "your moms is so short, she can sit on the curb and still swing her legs" with "yeah? Well your mother has poor eating habits, which contributes to her high blood pressure. Your lack of a summer job will only exacerbate the problem, as she will have to work extra hours to support the family, leaving even less time for her to buy groceries and cook lunch and dinner, so she'll be eating more and more McDonald's and pork rinds, aging prematurely, gaining weight, eventually succumbing to a heart attack."

I think there's a happy medium between shyt talk, slick talk, and real talk. Hollow definitely had far more dead spots than Lux during their battle, but Lux also had long, dry parts of his round where I lost interest. He can sometimes sound like a more convincing, more lyrical version of Sir Menelik. He drones on and on and on and it all starts to blend together into a forgettable verse. Diversify your bonds, nikka.

I rewatched their battle the other day because people were talking about it again in this thread, and Hollow's rounds were weaker than the first time, clearly. He relies on charisma, wit, rebuttals, angles. Nothing wrong with that though, and he had the far more entertaining moments of the battle. His breakdown of Lux's breakdown of Calicoe's pops was probably the biggest punch of the entire battle. The clowning of Lux's jacket and pants, followed by Lux removing the jacket was great. But that loadedforloadedopenandcloseit was corny to me, and the shyt about hoping Lux's true love shoots a school up is the kind of goofy shyt I dislike about Hollow. The rebuttal your line before you come up with the rhyme shyt was dope too.

Lux was much less entertaining, but had better structured raps. He pretty much jabbed Hollow to death every round. Nothing really seemed like a knockout punch (stand up nikkas don't lean was the hardest one, but that shyt wasn't as hard as Hollow's hardest, to me), and his angle was so one dimensional it got a little tiring for me.

Really it boils down to whether you think Hollow's knockout punches were stronger than the accumulation of Lux's jabs. It boils down to style preferences. And, although people have trouble admitting it, it boils down to personal preferences. A lot of people dislike these battlers for personal reasons - how they look, how their voice sounds, how they carry themselves. I hear Hollow's voice cracking and shyt while he screams "I hate you, Lux!" and I can imagine he just annoys certain dudes. I see Lux in his dumb ass Panther hat kicking long ass preachy verses and I can imagine certain dudes being like "take that shyt somewhere else, nikka."

Anyway, yeah, this just seems like the prototypical 2-1 debatable battle. I watch it and feel more like I'm getting a show than a battle with a clear-cut winner. I can really see the case for either dude. The last time I watched I probably would've given it to Lux, but I felt the opposite way the time before that.

White rappers say it in a nerdy corny joking way

Lux says it lyrically

If Lux talked against guns like Okwerdz, shyt would be just as wack.

Lux was on that diva shyt and had the crowd waitin :lolbron:

Beloooooooved
I went back and watched that super writer vs newborn. That shyt was a classic. Borns 2nd round was absolute fire!!!!! :whew:

14:41

And a lot of nikkaz sleep on born vs Danja zone. That battle remains a classic

The sad part is that after this dropped, I thought Danja was gonna take off because all 3 rounds in this battle was ill imo....It's a damn shame....he had so much potential

Hollow had tons of dead spots and got booed in all 3 rounds at some point. People like to leave that out. Dudes just wanted lux to lose. Hollow was entertaining but bar wise was nowhere near what lux was saying.

The funny thing is if nikkas got the judging they keep crying for they would cry about hollow losing and the judges being wrong when they realize you can't win rounds while being booed in them.
That crowd was on some bullshyt. They also booed lux near the end of his 3rd rd, and they chanted hollows name at the end of the battle.
Like another poster said, there is no winner or loser in this battle. Lux definitely out barred hollow, but hollow had a good performance and crazy haymakers

When that battle dropped. One issue I had with hollow is him stopping his own momentum. He would start spazzin and then abruptly stop. Also one thing that I wasn't feelin was hollow screaming so damn loud at the top of his lungs and that took away from his rounds. Like @FreshAIG and @Ghostface Trillah said , hollow had a gang of dead spots and he had to start almost from scratch, fukkin up his continuity.
Okay, but you realize im not arguin over who won right? No where did I say I had hollow winning, I was just addressin the smart nikka/dumb nikka angle lux fans always try to use :yeshrug: i like the rapper, dislike his stans

Not Dirt!

But yeah, there's something condescending and simplistic about it from most people, fair point.

I do get your point though about it was more Lux jabs vs. Hollow's haymakers. I think I give it to Lux more clearly after multiple viewings because eventhough I agree, Hollow had the crazier haymakers, (though that Fire Round line was used by Conceited before, and Hollow be Thy Name really made no sense) to me, Hollow had way too many dry spots, way too many moments when he just said something really corny and his yelling annoys the hell out of me lol.

you guys are killing your own crowd argument. They weren't bias, they just kept it real.

They booed at the dead spots, thats why they cheered hollows name at the end.

Crowd was way better than you guys claim outside of the talking through hitman and surfs rounds

That wasn't my main point. The only reason I mentioned the crowd was because you said they booed hollow to make a case for him having dead spots. I was just pointing out that they booed lux in the 3rd (which was bullshyt) and they chanting hollow name.

what the point is the point of "judging" the battles, since it's all subjective and there isn't an objective crtieria to judge properly a rap battle

All the Hollow battles I rewatch go that way. The humor is top notch, the rebuttals are creative and sharp, and there's a lot of corny shyt sprinkled in.
