The stigma of getting STD/STI tests

Routine STI/STD tests don't test for herpes

I haven't had any symptoms since my first outbreak but I take daily antivirals just in case. 3 different pharmacies were completely out of prescription Valtrex so I had to wait a few days to get a refill. Last time my main pharmacy was out of stock as well. How common is hsv if the medication is out of stock so often?
I disclose to all partners beforehand and the 3 chicks I'm seeing right now also have hsv2. They didn't say shyt about it until I disclosed that I have it

Because it's "just" herpes. It's not fatal like HIV/AIDS/Syphilis
Also herpes can lie dormant in a person's system for years without the person ever showing symptoms, so it's often difficult to trace the source of infection.
it’s weird how doctors make you feel bad about requesting std tests. i would request a full panel when getting in a new relationship. it can really weird for women too cause some tests you have to get a pap smear for and doctors will try to talk you out of it.

Hear me out. Its like folks substitute safe sex with getting tested. And my personal feeling is... one keeps you from getting an std. The other just lets you know when you inevitably get an std because you weren't practicing safe sex.
So many ppl have told me they had sex raw but its okay cause they get tested regularly. As if being tested regularly is gonna give them kryptonian red sun powers so that they can continue to smash raw.

How much do tests costs?
Through my primary care, it’s free. CVS is usually under $100 w/ insurance. I can’t remember w/o insurance. Private (quest labs/labcorp) is around $200 and some change but the results are pretty fast, like a few days max.
I remember back in college I went to go get tested and my friend decided to tag along and also get tested himself.
The testing was uneventful, and I think I even got a free bag of condoms as I left the clinic, which was a cool surprise given that I thought that clinic goodie bags were a perk that only teenagers could take advantage of.
Anyways, I had to exit the clinic's office and go into a short hallway to take an elevator down. As I entered the hallway, I see my friend waiting for me by elevator, and he immediately asks me "AYE, SO YOU CLEAN OR WHAT??" just as the elevator doors opened up. Sure enough, two women were making their way up to the clinic.
They suppressed a brief snicker before the humor of the moment completely gave way to the disgusting implications of my being at the clinic. I can't remember what I was wearing, but I'm certain it was conspicuously lewd. I'm talking grey sweatpants, gold chain draped over a white t shirt, nike slides while my unkempt facial hair protruded sloppily from the same pores that permeated whatever liquor I binged on the night before; way more confidence than any 21 year old business major should ever have.

I prefer raw but when I worked healthcare, I always recommended a combination of both.
The Army can be a really small world at the brigade level. That angelic chick that’s so naturally pretty and educated could have smashed 3 different dudes one night, all of them thinking they were the only ones. It can also be that those three smashed three different women on base and from the local populace. Even with condoms (even though a lot of people don’t use protection with oral) there’s still a risk. I prefer to know, in case I ever do get caught slipping, so that I have a relatively small timeframe to examine when I may have caught something and who it came from.

I don't believe there is a stigma when it comes to STD testing. When it comes to your health and you are sexually active with multiple partners, then the responsible thing to do is to get regularly tested.
Besides, who would know if you got tested unless you told your business to other people??

It makes me wonder why people avoid getting tested, even when it’s offered for free. I feel that the lack of testing and poor sexual/health education continues to contribute to infections being so difficult to slow down.
