Any place that won't hire me because of dreads I don't want to work there anyway. So me your priorities up front. At least you have options in that case.
There are people in solitary confinement right now because of dreadlocks, I read one guy been in there since the late 70s because of his hair
nikka what? Has to be more to the story.

This is systematic oppression that black people have to deal with America.

Tattoos are now accepted in the work force but a natural African hairstyle isn't. Lol
this just the reality of what u deal with when ur dependent on someone else for a paycheck.

its difficult to be black in USA and be self employed/self sufficient. Few are

But for the rest..this is just how it is. Hope it motivates more of us to arm ourselves with the knowledge and skills to elevate out of that position :yeshrug:

Its one thing for men, u can always cut ur hair...

But what about black women? Can they braid it? Or are they supposed to put dangerous chemicals that are hazardous to their long term health just for a job?

My friend was told to straighten her natural hair when some higher ups were visiting the office she works at.

I work in a creative office full of liberal white people where you’re allowed to look however you want to. But I’ve seen people get passed up for raises/promotions who didn’t fit a certain look. So even if they may not say anything they’re still gonna suppress your growth.
