Exactly, overall cats have better chance of becoming a decently paid health care professional(making 50-350k ) a year, or engineer( making 55-200k) then breaking into the nba or entertainment business.
Majoring in bs, is why our communities can't keep up. With that said, because we're so poorly represented in higher learning, degrees in history or political science, can be just as fulfilling. It's important for people to know and understand history, and how laws work....

Tech is just sexy right now because its seem as some great democratizer.
Theres tons of less "attractive" STEM jobs that pay just as well if not more and are waiting for applicants.
Dudes fall in love with the "wear jeans and hoodies to work with free food" attitude and think thats the only life for themselves.
i think we're focusing on tech because these companies are not only the "in" thing, make a lot of money, etc....but some of them are changing the world with their ideas.
