I plan on being fully vegan by the time I am 35(25 now)... I cut Milk out of my diet a few years ago... and am gradually removing certain meats... It is hard to do when you lift weights though and are trying to get 195-200 grams of protein a day in your body...
Nice, honestly that's my main goal as well, with the exception of fish(salmon).

It's still hard for me to imagine, getting a full serving of protein without the help of meat or diary. I'm not a proponent of protein shakes either. I stopped messing with those roughly a year ago.

No Protein shakes? Thats impressive:wow:

Aside from eating mostly birds and fish... I rely on shakes so much nowadays. Beef I'll eat sparingly(once or twice a month)... Pork, very very rarely(Order a pizza once a month)...

I think it is going to be hard for me to phase out Cheese as well. I am a huge fan of different white cheeses and goudas:takedat:...

It'll be a rough ride but I'll eliminate Porks, then beefs, then birds, then fish, then cheeses... If I can do this while still maintaining my muscle mass into my 30's:blessed:

My uncle was a Rasta for a long ass time so him and my cousins grew up vegetarian and eventually vegan so I've gotten a little insight on the lifestyle. It's good for you yeah, but it's also extremely difficult and to me once you start micromanaging your eating to that extent it can get contagious(like suddenly preferring organic veggies over any kind) but the good thing is that it turns you on to all types of new food to replace what meat provides for you. My uncle's philosophy was simple, "Food is suppose to give you energy, not put you to sleep." so maybe getting the 'itis says a lot about what we eat.

To me, it's best to go for a balanced diet, have just as much fruits/veggies/beans/seeds etc as you have meat/dairy/junk.

I was raised vegetarian, but I became underweight a few years back. So I consulted with a nutritionist.

Now I eat chicken, turkey, tuna, and all those Morningstar vegetarian meat substitutes in the frozen food ais'le. I like CANNED veggie meat too, but it is expensive and hard to find. I don't like Boca brand veggie meat. :-/ not much at all!

Balancing your diet is key. (Women must get adequate calcium for their bones.) Don't hestitate to consult with a nutritionist and to review the food pyramid guidelines. I am still biased in favor of raw fruits and HUGE vegetable salads, but I am more balanced now.

It also depends why people would want to become vegans/vegetarians. If it's simply for diets I can imagine it being much harder than if it's for ethical reasons..

I've tried to rely on primarily on shakes in the past, but the major downside was always feeling hungry. Honestly, I just get to lazy to buy protein. And I'm rather picky on the brand I choose to consume. Which means I usually have to drive 30+ minutes away then deal with traffic, coming and going. It sucks bro, not worth it...

Whereas, I can reach my protein intake goal relatively easy, by going to the local supermarket.

(Soy Milk, eggs, yogurt, cheese, cottage cheese + fish / chicken.)

basically this...

Except, I can't mess with veggie meat and tofu. It's definitely an acquired taste. It taste "kind of" similar, but I'd have to doctor it up...

Gave up beef, poultry, Pork, and everything except for Fish , and other seafoods earlier this year, and I haven't looked back.

Gonna try to do the same with dairy, my body is starting to reject dairy products, been on Lactaid free milk for a while, but i'm gonna have to give up dairy completely.

But chocolates, cookies are my weaknesses.:to:

There's definitely some ethical implications behind, the reasoning of becoming a vegan/vegetarian. I'm sure "most" people who choose these lifestyles are "somewhat" aware of the mass production and exploitation of meat, as well as other "similar" industries like sugar or just feel like consuming other animals is just wrong(:manny:)...

But diet wise, the best way to slim down is through exercise and eating more food, with less energy (calories).

this is good but grilled chicken and fish are good for you give you some sources of nutrients plants cant. also red meat is needed in diet in small amounts. Its wen you eat red meat too much it becomes bad for you

I haven't eaten beef, chicken, pork or turkey in 3 years. Just fish. I'm what one would call a Pescetarian Pescetarianism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I was about 187LBS when I started and in what I thought to be pretty good shape. Now I am 170LBS and in phenomenal shape. Everything is pretty much still the same but I don't overeat which a lot of Americans do. I noticed my skin is 100 times better. More vascular. Breathing is great. It really isn't that expensive. Only milk I drink is Almond milk.

Hardest part is getting the literature down. I didn't do it for ethical reasons at all. Mine was more about finding new ways to become more fit and lean. Home - YumUniverse Great website for literature and recipes. I'd say it takes about a month or so before you won't go back. At this point if I ate some of that stuff I'm sure I would get sick.

I think its fairly easy to eliminate all other meats outside of chicken. I don't eat much meat myself, but when I do grab something it is usually chicken/turkey and keep it at a minimum. Cheese is tough if you eat many sandwiches and like Pizza. Cheese was definitely a weakness for me, but what I started doing was just ordering a bootlegger club from Jimmy Johns (they charge extra for cheese) and you get used to eating your sandwiches without it after a while.

One of the best things about chicken/turkey is the fact that you can fix it up in so many ways...and tastes great when you bake a whole bird in the oven :wow:

Vegans or would be vegans who are still stuck on that whole "where I'm going to get protein" from need to check out Moringa, Hemp Seed, Spirulina etc.

GREAT source of protein and is full of other nutrients.

It's really a fallacy to think there is incomplete source of nutrition with vegan food.
