I mean I don't dislike dude as a person but he is not interesting to me as an MC, he just isn't. I don't mind him expressing his anger about getting left off but the reality is maybe there were 50 albums that someone liked more than yours, especially now that I know it was inclusive of all genres of music.

Yeah he generally hates that clean middle class hip hop. He's like something beyond a hipster, like he regularly listens to DJ Paul and Juicy J's dubbed demo tapes from high school and obscure hood shyt like that.

It gets silly when he tries to sell the artistic merits of Chief Keef and whoever else his cacness deems is poor and black enough to get props, but he's a good writer with a different perspective on things. Nobody can shyt on a rapper better than him right now...

true. but he gets a different kind of respect from me because when you go back through his interviews n shyt, he's really sat down with some of the all time greats from the underground rap scene(especially houston) shyt i grew up down south and this nikka got interviews with local legend type nikkas that i never even heard of that got bangers

prolly one of the only white rap journalist who really has his ear to the streets

i feel him on disliking the middle class rap shyt tho, like i can't explain it, the majority of those nikkas styles are dated if you ask me. they obviously can't rap about street stuff they haven't lived, so you would think they would come on some extra creative shyt, but no, they come with some "ode to 90's rap" type shyt that comes off as corny to me

Wale's album was one of the top albums of the year, Stokely did his thing on there too, Wale gets props just for that. I fukking hate Complex, they always want you to click individual links to see their lists whenever they rank stuff, it's annoying. And on top of that their rankings usually suck, so at least they're consistent.
