Windbreakers - Takiishi got hat Rengoku hair design :hubie: somebody going to the ER

Endo is nowhere near stronger than him and they couldn't even TOUCH that nikka :mjlol:
We finally got antagonists here and they basically sequel baited us :skip:. Well, not as bad as Ishura's sequel bait, but that series is very high in substance that it would be interesting to read with its character writing & worldbuilding being great. This show got none of that.

Cloverworks got so much shyt they are working on we might not see S3 in 2–3 years at minimum.

I think I prefer S2 to S1. That whole Ume vs Chouji fight massively brought down S1 for me. I still haven't seen the reason why Ume is respected as the leader of the group. Whether someone liked Tsubaki's arc or not, at least they showed you why he is one of the 4 kings under Ume. Hell S1 did more that also with Hiiragi then Ume.

Though animation, fights and music were all top-notch. Though I think I mentioned that enough for this show.

yea they keep the stretched out flashbacks to a minimum this season

but tossed in the cross-dressing teenager doing pole dancing at an adult bar :skip: this show refuses to have a full season without weird shyt going on, that's prolly gonna be the running joke online with this series

Prob the first great arc in the series. Though supernatural aspects are a bit clumsy trying to be too symbolic.

So starting things back here we get to see Shoko's older form. Well, we know already that will cause tension from Mai because she is Sakuta's first love. One thing that feels clear here is that the younger Shoko is the actual Shoko. We finally get the scope of that Shoko has heart disease, and she won't make it past middle school. So the one thing that is clear that the older Shoko is the one that Sakuta says saved him. It is more mentioned to when Shoko can't fill her future plans sheet. As she tells both Rio & Sakuta, she clearly has dreams, but if you won't live that can put a doubt on you. Since you don't believe you would see them through. Essentially, the future Shoko is created to fulfill those dreams that the current Shoko has. Also, the older Shoko's existence follows the same logic of Schrödinger's Cat basically that we had in the Bunny Girl Senpai Arc.

The one big information drop is that when we see the older Shoko in that wedding dress she has a scar. So the good news is that the current Shoko survived. Still, as Rio points, there are two sides to Shoko. There is the one that wants to be an adult and the other that doesn't. Clearly, at this point, Shoko knows she won't live much longer. As Rio points that desires could cause the world to grow slower around her. Which leads her to grow older at the same time. Which is why she appears older. Meanwhile, the part of Shoko that wants to be an adult with her dreams is the Shoko who is in middle school. You can see this in the hospital scene because her dying truly upsets and depresses her.

The first juicy part of this movie is to reveal that the heart that saves Shoko is Sakuta's heart. Since he gets involved in an accident and dies, but his death saves Shoko. Mai hearing this just adds more issue to the scene. Now this leaves a choice for Sakuta. Who will he choose Mai or Shoko? Choosing Shoko means he is committed to dying to save Shoko. We know how much that saddens Mai. She wants him to choose her, even if that causes him to hate her. Though at the same time she would hate for Sakuta to hate her. The whole situation is really troubling. Still, he tells Shoko that he chooses Mai, which isn't a surprise.

Sakuta's memory hits him. More than likely, in the original timeline, Sakuta would have planned to go see the illumination at Enoshima. Essentially, it appears now that, unlike before, Shoko doesn't want to be saved. Of course, Sakuta in his hearts feeling greedy because Shoko choosing death is upsetting. Sakuta backs away from his choice and now wants to save both of them. But now the accident does happen and the worst happens. Now that Mai knows about the accident where Sakuta dies. She makes the sacrifice of her life to save him. Now everything the same happens in the timeline, but now replace Sakuta's death and heart with Mai. The most interesting is Mai's reaction to her daughter's death. You can see, despite how rocky their relationship is that she loved Mai. A very realistic scenario in life is that it takes losing someone to realize how much we love them. Granted Sakuta does save Mai, but this should still be noted.

Mai sacrificing herself to save Sakuta really shows how much she loves Sakuta. We saw at the end of S1 how much she wanted to be the one that was there for him. In fact, she constantly mentions she loves him more than he loves her. Well, she showed that love here. As Rio pointed out, the abnormality of Shoko being older here means they must be in the future. Thus, it's possible to go back to the present. Which more than likely is where the original incident happened. Admittedly, it is still a bit puzzling that Tomoe can see him. Still him able to talk to his present self starts a chain of events.

First Sakuta needs to stop Mai from saving the present Sakuta. That is more simple. Here Sakuta must save himself, but in doing so, he will hurt himself in the short turn. After all, the current Sakuta wants to choose both Mai and Shoko. But an important thing here is to realize that is not a realistic option. Between Shoko, Mai or Sakuta there will be one person who will suffer. The future Sakuta saves the present Sakuta, but the regret of not being able to save Shoko exists. This is an important step for Sakuta because he has done everything possible to help each of his friends and his sister with their problems. However, each of those problems started in the present and, as Rio points out, Shoko's issues might have started a long time ago. Even if they went back into the past and "saved" Shoko. Then because of there being an older Shoko, Sakuta wouldn't have been saved by her, which would mean Sakuta's entire life would be different. Is that really worth saving and fixing Shoko's problem even assuming it can be fixed? Sakuta was really starting to develop a savior complex. So good on Rio for giving him that conversation. It was important just to hope the best could happen for Shoko.

As the best thing for Sakuta is to not save Shoko, but compliment her and give her the push she needs. So it seems clear something changed in the past for Shoko. It's clear that both Mai & Sakuta don't know who Shoko is. As Mai talks about the film she was a part of that moved her. As we see Shoko in the classroom, rather than full of doubt and scared of the future, she is more confident here. As we see her with her family, she is saved, which more than likely is due to those efforts. Now the older Shoko doesn't exist. Though the real question comes who saved Sakuta when he was down since the older Shoko existed back then. Sow what exactly is different here now?
