This movie really takes what happened in "Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Home Alone" and really makes for a great character arc for Kaede. :mjcry:
With the resolution of Shoko's arc in "Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl" we no longer have the older Shoko around. Though it is quite the interesting turn that the next thing we see for Sakuta is that we see a child version of Mai. Hard to describe what it truly means and why it is happening. It seems for Sakuta is what is he planning to do after high school. Apparent that he will be trying to attend the same university as Mai.

Though the major part of this film is focusing on Kaede. She has the goal of attending the same high school as her brother. Though one of the signs of Sakuta showing he is a good brother is that he is keeping in mind of the online school for Kaede. After all, her condition is not exactly the easiest to come from. There is so much she is dealing with that an online school could be the better option. Even for Sakuta even though Kaede is back to her original personality, he can't help but remember the Kaede that we were first introduced to.

In all we see Kaede is working as hard as she can. Of course Mai, Nodoka & Sakuta were doing everything possible to help her. Though the heartbreaking reveal behind her wanting to attend the same high school as her brother is that what the previous Kaede wanted to do. Kaede knows that Sakuta cherishes the old Kaede. Sadly, considering that also Mai & Nodoka came to know the other Kaede first doesn't help. The worst part is that Kaede mentions she should have stayed as the old Kaede and her brother preferred her. Essentially, what seemed like a step in the right direction for Kaede, and she only thinks the opposite. Though as Sakuta is reminded whose dream it was to attend his high school, we are reminded the previous Kaede was more than a bit obsessed with her bother. The real question is, what does this Kaede want?

Smart of Sakuta to bring up Uzuki regarding the online school. As getting someone around her age to talk about it to can help a lot. It is fair for Kaede not want to be isolated and to want to fit in, but does that make sense for her? Overall, an important conversation Sakuta has with Kaede is to clarify that as sad as he was to see the previous Kaede go, he was happy the original Kaede is now back. It was clear beforehand that Kaede felt she had to be her previous self, but Sakuta cares about both Kaedes.

Ultimately, one's circumstances are important as well as their happiness. While Uzuki's situation is not as complicated as Kaede her point of you don't have to pick between your two selves. As it is the past who shapes who you are today. For Kaede the online school is clearly the better fit because it allows her a great opportunity, but being a more viable option to get into. Even with getting accepted at Sakuta's school, she still sticks with the online school because for her circumstance and her happiness it is the one for her. By allowing Kaede to pick the online school it really shows that her decision is what she wants to do. Though with the old Kaede's diary in her room it also indicates that she is embracing the past.

How ages work in Yaiba has no logic behind it with Nadeshiko's introduction :skip:

Kind of reminds me how in Wind Breaker when it was revealed that Kotoha was the same age as Sakura.

This can definitely work.
Hell, the Tokyo Revenger movies were fukking fire, but then again that show is better than Windbreaker so there's that lol.

Finale for Windbreakers was decent enough. nikkas went story mode, but at least it didn't get weird.

Ain’t nothing like ending your season with hints of a new bigger threat and then small preview of a new character

Shoshimin Series finished up great to finish the adaptation. Would give it 9/10. Animation, visuals, directing and music were all great. Very engaging dialogue. Prob the closest to Monogatari in this aspect and style. The whole sweets arc that ended S1 was my biggest high for the season. I think the character building and writing were great among the arcs. But the suspense in that arc was easily the best for me.
