what negative shyt does rap cause?

Im over 25 and black
Are u denying that rap is the most influential product among young blacks? It causes a negative mindset. I'm not saying it's the root cause of negative shyt but it certainly drives it. All music has a spirit and listening to certain types will subconsciously alter your mind state. Rap, coupled with bad parenting and a lack of positive role models inflluences by promoting violence, selling dope, materialism, being promiscuous, glorifies being in gangs and locked up. I can't believe I'm actually explaining why rap is negative to a supposed grown ass man. Damn I lost:snoop:

i remember being young and being the dude who had to have the kay slay, big mike, dj drama mixtapes as soon as they leaked. Downloading mixtapes albums left and right, chilling in the sohh soulseek room leeching off kaodiks 40gb of rap at 500kbs back in teh day :heh:.

FIlling my mind with filth, thankfully I stopped listening to rap like 8 years ago. Yes I know there is a segment of rap that is enriching and bla bla but the music for teh most part is just horrible and decaying. I'm happy its barely selling at the moment and hope it dies off or becomes a fringe section of music.

I'll continue to bump my jazz and old school reggae
Yep. I was that same youngin. Coppin everything. Maybe we all just getn old( I just turned 31) but I heard sum Young Thug song on the radio yesterday and I LEGIT got pissed off. It sounded so damn stupid. And all he was talkin bout was bricks this bricks that. It saddens me that sum thing that I grew up on and loved I despise now

These are the same arguments white people like to use when they blame mass murders and shyt on video games. Good lyrical hip hop IS in fact harder to come by these days I agree, but I still enjoy the many different interpretations of the art from all over the country. The problems in the black community do not start and end with rap. The notion itself is ridiculous to me. There is a much deeper problem at hand when any form of entertainment is asked to be the raiser of children in a community.

It's hard to argue with this though.

This is very true, but I think Jazz had more balance. For all the drugs, association with pimps and criminals and whatever else, there was also another side that produced "high art" and socially conscious messages. Hip-hop used to have more balance, too. I don't know if we can make the same argument for it now.

The balance is there, you just have to look for it now.......

Back in the day when rap was starting to bubble, the diversity was presented to you in the form of videos.....That's how you found out about artists in the south.......

That was when BET and MTV just put all of rap in one big box and let the video jockeys do they thing.......

I agree with this 90%...

But rap is only "negative" if the rapper/song is "negative".

rap is low on my list of issues to be honest

retaining the black dollar
unemployment
police brutality
police harassment
fair treatment in the court system
negative stereotyping of black people in the media
clean public parks
more libraries
more education programs
proper and adequate sanitation of black neighborhoods
fair lending practices
fair grocery pricing
gerrymandering
redlining
fair housing

are just a few things I would gladly want to deal with first when it comes to issues in the black community
but as for my listening choices, I have to keep clear of the majority of stuff I come across.

negative for whom?
To anyone that's listening:what: How is "nikka move that dope" or any song promoting killing, drug use or the degradation of women a positive message for anyone. Sure, most ppl can listen to it and not be affected by it but there are others who are extremely influenced by it. It's kinda sad that a nearly :flabbynsick: Black man like you is asking these questions
