About to have a kid actually. How crazy would I be to name him Nasir after Nas? What y’all think about that?

Seriously asking
Nasir is a real name with Arabic origins

From Google search:
"Nasir (Arabic: ناصر‎ Nāṣir) is an Arabic masculine given name which can mean "helper" or "one who gives victory" (grammatically the Stem I masculine singular active participle of consonantal verb root n-ṣ-r). The female form of the name is Nasira (ناصرة Nāṣira)."

....
There’s too much baggage in first and last names. I can’t wait until the future when everyone will be named after planets, fictional aliens, super villains and super hero’s. I’m thinking about changing my own name to Superman Batman like that Asian kid. Or maybe Falcon Static. :mjpls:

Depends on what you mean by Black name.

Are we talking names like "Jerome" that have been assumed to be Black names (even though they're British/Irish in origin), names like Muhammad and Jamal that were picked up by a lot of Afro-centrists in the 70s and 80s, or the longer original names like Shanautica and Ci'Ericka?

Its probably because of class - we assume Black people with the latter names are working-class or poor, grew up in poor environments, or are largely undereducated - and we associate all things with them. Its a way for Black people who are closer to the white ideal to feel like they can look down on someone.

Its just that people are ignorant. The common ghetto names are rooted in various cultures.
Some of the new post 1995 names are just goofy.
Half the names are rooted in the Arabic language...
The other half... the prefixes are rooted in african naming rituals that resurfaced during the black power 70s.

Most of our people love cac names and feel that cac names are more valid.

BECAUSE IT SOUNDS LIKE
SOME shyt SOME LITTLE KIDS
CAME UP WITH.

MEXICANS DIDNT COME
UP WITH THEIR NAMES BTW.

THOSE ARE CAC NAMES FROM EUROPE.
SPAIN TO BE EXACT.

YOU CANT COMPARE THOSE HOME MADE NAMES TO NAMES FROM
OTHER COUNTRIES AND
CALL THEM "BLACK" NAMES.
There are Indigenous names that are looked down upon by other Latinos though - there are far more likely to be whitewashed Latinos here in the U.S. who ignore names like Maatiaak or Itzamatul - or seem them as names of the poor too.

Most groups that have assimilated into white hegemony have adopted traditionally Anglo names.

What most Asians or Africans do is give their child a western/Anglo name as first name and their middle name is that of whatever culture/ethnicity their from. That’s been the norm for the past 30-40 yrs I’ve seen

I'm glad my Momma didnt name me some "throw the application in the trash" bullshyt:mjlol:

Yall STILL dont believe they disregard yall application just off your name.

But hey, if the ladies think the name sounds cool:manny:
I'm glad my mother raised me to be a man and never to be ashamed of my own just because we are in close proximity with CACS.

You have sorta of a sambo mentality, but I'm sure you dont realize it.

Anyway, my mother also raised me in a way where I dont have to fill out applications and beg like a hoe:hubie:

And i say this as someone who doesn't have a "throw the app in the trash name"

We aren't free with names because the white man throws resumes in the trash based on name

Names evolve if you let them.

We gonna stick with the biblical names....
Biblical names are mostly made up in the 1600s by white people who manipulated religious scriptures and added their own cac english names to characters.

Most of you sambos desire to colonize the minds of your children right out the womb and

You're madddd proud of it
