ebro2.jpg

so why yall so shocked???

black radio hasn't represented the community since WBLS got sold by the Percy Sutton family of harlem to a big media conglomerate...

EMMIS BROADCASTING and CLEAR CHANNEL don't give a rat's azz about your culture

That pic actually sickens me. Can yall even imagine the largest country music station in a market being hosted and programmed by a bunch of black people.?

Can yall imagine white people letting us dictate whats hot in country music and them taking our opinions seriously the way yall do with these white "hiphop journalists"?:scust:

Phonzhi that picture is not half horrifying as the statistics.....read it and weep:

According to the National Assn. of Black Owned Broadcasters, black ownership has declined precipitously since 1995, when Congress passed legislation repealing the minority tax certificate. Then the Telecommunications Act of 1996 was signed into law, allowing broadcast companies to own an unlimited number of radio stations.

The affect on black radio ownership has been significant. In 1995, according to a docket filed by NABOB, the number of African-American companies owning radio stations--like Inner City Broadcasting, owned and operated by New York's Sutton family, and Radio One, launched by Cathy Hughes--was 146. In 2012, that number dropped to 68.

Now, Inner City is no more. The chain filed for bankruptcy and was bought last year by YMF Media (whose owners include Ron Burkle and Magic Johnson).

keep in mind that Ron Burkle is Puff Daddy's "billionaire daddy" aka the REAL SEAN JOHN and Magic Johnson although celebrated for his "entreprenuriship" skills mostly invests as a minority share owner like the so-called "African American experience" network Aspire which is 50% owned by Comcast and with the other third being a hedge fund operation if im not mistaken.

so in reality...we are not OWNERS even when it's got our name and face on the building ..we just the shop keepers

Future sounds nothing like Guetta. You could find Nelly on Adult Top 0 which doesn't play Hip Hop.

I didn't mean literally but they're in the same alley. Electronic music over Hip Hop drums that has a "futuristic"/"techno"/electronic vibe. Nelly's just been the exception

In other words. He's like Adele to R&B

So people are acting like rap isnt Pop now? Why do you think Drake is damn big? Hip hop isnt real hiphop anymore. Its pop music over urban beats. If you mad about adele being on hiphop stations, be mad at yourself if you condoned and support this wack ass rap game that have made the two genres symbiotic.

Who listens to radio anyway? :stopitdenzel:

It doesn't work that way bro. Future sounds like David Guetta but you don't see him at EDM shows now do you?

Ive noticed recently at edc, ultra music festival, and fools gold day off/mad decent block party theyve been putting rappers on their bills. I dont know if its because there arent that many black edm djs that are in the new school that arent old heads or because the audiencds eat that shyt up. I think its both.

Waka Flocka Does edm festivals
Azalea banks did ultra in 2013.
I wouldnt be surprised if Future is at any of those festivals. I would be surprised if future was on the first lineup for Ultra in Miami when its announced for this year.

But Future wouldnt be out of place at a UMF or EDC...which Guetta and people like Calvin Harris headline.

Would his label market Future to that crowd though? Would his fans follow or would they turn on him and accuse him of selling out?
