At the beginning of mean streets
really is that why america is filled with immigrants esp mexicans who work and roam freely

its nto EASY in canada, the mass immigration happaned in the 70s due to pierre elliot trudeau that has since ceased. Trust me I work at one of the largest hospitals and every day families striaght from the detention center come in to get treated and go back.

its harder to get a green card yes than cdn citizenship or permanent residency, but to live as a undocumented person its easier in america

Is that why Obama's executive order is so controversial? Wanting to grant amnesty to undocumented illegal aliens who've been living here illegally for years upon years?

And no it's not easy being undocumented. I've written affidavits and testified on behalf of family members from an actual war torn nation who decided to come here and have an extended stay under an expired VISA. Do you know who ICE is? They're immigration and customs enforcement. They ended up in that detention camp because waiting for being approved to enter the US is a long wait. My significant other is black Cuban, he's even said how difficult it was (even with the political refugee policy they had). It's a long process. First of all, you have to be approved, then they do another background check once you get here to apply for employment authorization, and after a year then you can apply for a green card aka adjustment of status. It takes five years to become a citizen, unless someone like a family member/spouse you brought here it's three. But there are provisions, you must have continuously not left the US for more than 6 months for the five years you were a permanent resident. Crossing the border into Canada is the easiest thing in the world, a fukking breeze. Try entering America. It's very difficult.

I'll give a few reasons why Vancouver was shytty.

1. Extremely high taxes

2. Medical is free, HOWEVER, what they don't tell you is that copays cost, and some waits are long as fukk, in fact I had canadians bigging up America's private health care sector, which is a little daunting.

3. Worst weather second to London. It rained almost every day for over 6 months.

4. They are a very very introverted people. Americans will make small talk in line at a grocery store, yet on the sky train no one even gives each other eye contact

5. Canadians tend to be cliquish. This makes meeting these introverted people out and about even harder. Youll find that most people that are talking to each other are transplants from other countries, like Australia.

6. Food. Everything is expensive because a lot of produce and drinks are imports, on top of that, they slap you with even MORE taxes. In fact, a lot of their chains are just american imports, as our their goods, there's a good reason that the second largest country in the world has 90% of it hugged up against the border with america.

7. Trying to get employment as an immigrant is a bytch

8. Real Estate, if food and taxes weren't enough, its not rare to find yourself in a $1,200 bachelor pad, you might be able to find something cheaper in the gentrified areas which will most likely be filled with indians and chinese. Thats not a problem however, these 2 groups are notoriously cliquish as well.

9. Racism. Saw my first swastika in vancouver. Yes, you got that right, a nikka from America aint never seen one in his whole life, but managed to see one in Canada, I dont even know how that works either. But its not rare to hear canucks talk a lot of shyt about asians......50% of their city is asian. Its like being white and complaining about messicans in LA. I dont know wtf that was about but it was often. Folks talking about an entire area smelling like shyt or curry cause that part of town has too many indians. I was hearin this shyt blatantly. I expect it from Americans but I didnt expect it from them.....

10. They brag about weed....and they do have relaxed laws...but where the fukk do you buy it? yep, old fashion way...a weed connect. It found that strange because Im from LA so I was so used to going to a dispensary to buy my weed, large menu in hand, but in canada, the land of BC Kush, Im out in my lobby doing hand transfers like I'm buy crack. That shyt was super weird. It was nice to smoke in a cafe tho.....but asking folks where they get their connect all low key and whispering beat the whole purpose.

11. Can these fukks get $1 bills please? bills start at $5, so you give a bytch $10 for a meal and she gives you back $4.50, I'm over here walking around sounding like a fukking reindeer with all this change jiggling around my pocket. Them twonies are heavy as fukk too, nikka over here counting coins to pay for dinner. Finding twonies all over my car since you can't put them in your wallet and I'll be damned if I carry a change purse. Minor complaint but the shyt was annoying.

12. Unwarranted pride. There really is no reason they are prideful. They flock to america in droves. They emigrate down south at an alarming rate, in my cases most people see it as 'winning'. The benefits they get from working and living in america far outweigh actually staying, which is why they leave, yet, they have so much pride because it's not as violent. Newsflash, that's like americans talking shyt about mexico, but fleeing to the border of mexico at record numbers, wouldn't that be a little ironic?

13. Clubs close at 2, last call at 1:30am. These are world class cities eh? Sky Train closed by 1? Alrighty.

14. So since I cant club properly I want to buy liquor, the cheapest sorriest bottle of vodka will run you $25 (its $7 in america) and you can only buy them at state run stores. You can't buy liquor just anywhere, not even the grocery store, kinda fukking shyt is that? I have to go to a designated store to buy alcohol and even your domestic beers run you over $10. WHAT.

Like I said, great for raising a family, but as a young buck...I had more fun in Sao Paolo and Rio. Heck even Caracas was better than Vancouver. Maybe not as safe, but I'm not white, a little danger doesn't bother me.

All Vancouver has going for it is weed and the scenery

I just came back from LA, spent almost a week out there. Absolutely loved it but I would say it has more good AND bad then say Toronto

I just edited a couple more.

I used to date a canuck, which is why I lived there, and even she said the people in LA are soooo much warmer, my crew embraced her well. She was shocked how people in stores would randomly strike up convos or how we'd meet new people at the bars. She was like a celeb esp when they found out she was canadian. we're a warm people and to move up there where everyone was cold was sorta depressing. I can meet people very very easily, I've been traveling for over a decade, but vancouver was hands down the hardest place to make friends. I move to fukking china and within a month I had more friends than I had in a year in Van. So I know its not me, it's them.

i was just in vancouver a week and a half ago, everyone was warm as hell to me, cept a fakkit transit cop. I don't even club or go to bars and women were friendly as hell to me everywhere I went. I agree it is a very expensive city, its somewhat clickish in terms of races staying together but its one of the top places in the world where people date out wusually your paags with cacs.

I'm a cdn citizen but I do know vancouver pays crummy wages for the price it costs to live there, I don't club or drink or do drugs so can't speak on those issues

and its not droves only 20k candians move to the us a year, and most are on tn visas, its actually very difficult for a ordinarily cdn not counting marriage to move to the states, most vancouverites go to alberta for work which pays the highest wages in canada

Vancouver is great if ur Asian or a rich cac

If I was younger I would've moved to LA

I loved the fact that LA is such a universe , went everywhere from Compton to Santa Monica

It didn't have that warmth to it that home does but that could just be my bias

My only beef with living in the states is the fact that it's still America, I'm an afghan so I can't fukk with that red white and blue, military everything, pax American culture

In Toronto, immigrants are able to keep their identities more intact and it's safety and softness really are it's most appealing qualities

U should hit Toronto tho

I lived in LA for a while.

It's overrated as hell.
Great weather.
Beautiful people.

Absolutely horrendous traffic.
Hipsters (Los Feliz can be the WOAT)
Pretentiousness
People are slow...like mentally...and even with food service (admittedly that's a minor personal gripe).
Everything is spread out. You basically have to pick 1 neighborhood to chill at for the night and that's about it. Going around all parts of LA is a hassle.

LA CAN be cool, but if you're gonna compare it to San Diego or San Francisco? Those other two cities are better.

I'll put it this way... If you have time to kill, then LA is a nice place to visit.
But it's not city where you can go for a long weekend and crush it like NYC or Miami.

Ain't that the truth, I basically had to organize my time efficiently to check out the places I wanted to check out
