Not for the sake of this argument because it doesn't matter if you're just sorta racist or kinda tolerate because you're still oppressive.

This only matters if you're saying white Americans are "More" Tolerant than other countries because they only inflict their racism on blacks. That honestly isn't the metric for how you measure racism. Once again the misinformation is the framing.

It's essentially like me saying, Aaron is more racist than Bob because Aaron committed a violent crime against blacks because of their race while disregarding the fact that Bob doesn't allow his family to speak to blacks, enacts policies to keep blacks from living near him, won't hire them from his business, etc.

But to dig into issues here. He's using a survey about whether or not people would be comfortable living next to someone based on race and culture and uses that as an argument to say these countries are less racists.

My first problem with this reasoning is that it includes not only race, but also religion. He's muddying the waters from the start.

Sure a place may be less tolerant, but similarly less racist.

Secondly, he's saying race and ethnicity are the same. A lot of the places he's referring to are torn in ethnic conflicts. Just take a look at this presentation showing the various ethnic conflicts in Europe and the relatively recent wars. Of course there's less tolerance, but it's not particularly due to racism.

What's the point of this thread? Of course the USA is one of the most tolerant countries in the world. That's kind of our MO. This is by design. It has little to do with our racial make up....Mind you racial intolerance, when looked at globally, involves casual genocide/mass rape/open government backed oppression.


Not destroying a person's life simply because of their background is a pretty easy standard to meet...Again whats the purpose of this thread? To say it's not that bad because we could be systemically eradicated like in some other places?
