Facts.Real R&B existed because you had singers who learned how to sing through their upbringing in the Church.
Also, there aren't any big talent shows anymore. Singers used to go to talent shows, get booed, and then go home and master their craft.
This happened to Luther Vandross, Anita Baker, and Lauryn Hill, for example.
Current singers don't get that instant, organic feedback; they don't have to cut their chops anywhere. All they need is a laptop, a microphone, and a closet to record in. They can record & upload a song without testing the waters at all.
The closest thing to talent shows now are showcases, but artists don't really get critiqued at those.
