So my friends and I decided to try this challenge during quarantine. I’ve been doing vegan recipes for a minute so this might be a change. But the month of May we are doing Keto.

So we will not eat over 20 carbs per day. No sugars, breads, rice or potatoes. All meats will be organic or grass fed. Eggs are cage free pasteurized eggs. Each day I will post the recipes I’m cooking. Eating starts at 11:00am and ends at 6:00pm.

Day 1: (Started yesterday)
Breakfast/Lunch-Vanilla low carb protein shake.
Dinner-Pork Belly Ramen with shiratake noodles.

Pork Belly can be found at most grocery stores. I learned how to cook it when I lived in Asia. It’s a very fatty cut of meat and was recommended by some other keto people I’ve talked to.

It’s basically like a thick ass piece of bacon.

Put ramen seasoning packets in the slow cooker with water beef broth, pork seasoning, miso and Splenda.

Rub a bunch of seasonings on pork belly and brown in skillet on both sides for a couple of minutes. Put it into the slow cooker along with some drippings and cook for 50 minutes and stick it in the oven. Take it out, add more seasonings and bake in oven until browned on each side.

Take shiratake noodles out and rinse them. Put them in a pot and pour slow cooker soup base over them. Simmer on medium heat for 10 minutes.

Put into a bowl. Put a piece of pork belly over it. Garnish with whatever stuff u like in ur ramen as long it doesn’t add to carb count. Boiled eggs, seaweed, tofu, green onions, bamboo.
The pork belly has no carbs, the shiratake noodles have 3 net carbs. Otherwise just watch any soup bases u might use.

Im learning that sugar seems to be in EVERYTHING.

If ur vegan you can do sautéed tofu instead of pork belly but I don’t know how vegan keto would work.:jbhmm: I’m sure somebody somewhere is doing it tho.
Ah well. I’ll post daily updates and recipes.

Week 1 Dinner
Pork Belly Ramen
Spicy sausage cabbage rolls
Butter thyme ribeye steak and loaded Greek salad

Suggestions and experiences with Keto are welcomed!
Absolutely love ramen. I used to go to a ramen shop at least once a week before everything shut down.:ohlawd:

HELL
Lose weight and tone up.
Just exercise. Keto is extremely bad for your health. With just two dumbbells I'm getting a great full body workout right at home. I also have a bike (nothing illegal about going for a bike ride)

Yupp. Its like a moderate fat diet, instead of a high fat diet like Keto

Plus high protein makes you more satiated and full, thus making it easier to not overeat

Its basically Meat, Fish, Eggs, Low carb vegetables, Quest Bars and Beef Jerky for snacking, and very little fruits

High protein, low carbs, with intermittent fasting = AMAZING :wow:

That's what I'm basically on since the quarantine. I haven't been working out at all but I feel good and look slimmer.

I'm not checking the scales because when I do and it's a number I'm not expecting I feel demoralized and start eating cheat meals.

Yeah I love it. What I like about the diet is that it allows you not focus the whole day on eating, and makes you more focused on doing other more important things
Plus it turns your body into a fat burning machine instead of a sugar burning machine

Question, what difference does it make if its cage free? Tastes the same and at the end of the day you’re still eating it’s babies so any moral argument is moot. If someone killed your daughter and ate her would you give them a pass because they treated you nicely? The whole cage free argument always sounded like white logic to me.

Same thing with vegans refusal to eat honey. i understand milk, because it literally comes from cows bodies. But bee’s honey doesn’t come from their bodies, they make it. It’s a byproduct of pollen. By that logic they shouldn’t eat salad Either because people make it using plants too.

From what I was told, it’s more so an issue of less exposure to harmful shyt in ur eggs than those in factory eggs which are cooped up by the thousands in cages and stuff. I also read somewhere that keto is in part about reducing inflammatory foods and purchasing high quality meats and eating good fats was apart of that. I’m still researching and reading as I go so I dunno what to put stock in, but will report how I feel as I progress.

Craving carbs becomes a normal thing when I was starting food commercials would make me go crazy
Tic tacs are a necessity for keto breath make sure to get the ones with zero carbs

Red Bull zero is a good substitute or coffee works too
