Touched 400k last year. I live in downtown capital city, but commute about 45 mins to rural area to provide services. Pay is 1.6-2x what I would make in the city. Easily worth the drive for me (for now).
Thinking about moving to NYC, though. Tired of living in a place I don't see myself being in 1-2 years. I'd take almost a 40% paycut to move to NYC, though. Feeling like it's worth it, just for a year or two while I still feel young and am single.
Despite the income, I'm not rich. Student loans take up a quarter to a third of my monthly take home pay, by choice. Aggressively paying off loans because I don't like such a massive, dark cloud hanging over my head. Even if it is low interest, I'm trying to rid myself of that burden ASAP.
Still drive Toyota
If there's any brehs that are looking to go to medical school or are currently in medical school or residency that need information or advice, feel free to hit me up.

First gen indeed. Think there's another MD in the family tree somewhere but that was back in the motherland, not here in the states. And two or three generations ago.get debt free breh. Dont know if you were the first gen to achieve what you did but debt usually becomes the burden for many because you had to take on all the risk with no prior financial foundation

Internal MedicineWhat's your specialty? I refuse to believe you'd take that much of a pay cut.
That much of a pay cut and moving to expensive ass NYC seems like it would be a double whammy.
My wife is a retina surgeon (academia), so I'm familiar with the school loan struggle
At a certain point, quality of life is more important than money. Plus, it would only be temporary.
My one piece of advice, for you and others. Keep the beater. Cars are the worst investment. If you saw me driving or really anywhere, you would never know im worth as much as i am. I dont tell anyone and keep it on the low. You would only have a hint if you came to my house. Hell i dont even take pics of my yard and post it. So yea keep that beater. Ima drive me 2010 fusion into the ground.MD

I Have multiple sources of income, cleared 400k+ last year, what I'm currently focusing on getting this engineering degree and concert promotions with all the entertainment connections I have.
Just did a Migos concert in a flyover state, cleared a cool 97k, but it was a learning experience because shyt almost fukked up (fukking rap shows)
![]()
My goal last year was a million, but shyt got sidetracked, really trying to hit atleast 750k this year though, and it seems like the stars are falling into place.
Brehs in smaller markets, y'all should look into starting investment groups for concert booking and promotions. Places like LA, NYC, Chicago, Houston are usually sewn up to the point nobody else can get in. But all those flyover states and smaller markets are licks if you know the market and recruit/build up a good promotion team.
I've seen cac doctors and lawyers that have never listened to a rap song in their lives making big money off rap shows, because their sons or nephew came to them with the business plan and proof it could work.
What happened in the end?Ain't post here in a minute, but a breh is getting recruited by 2 tech companies and the base/bonus/equity range numbers one of them is throwing out makes no sense (in a good way, for me)
Wish a breh some luck
I got offers from both jobs, picked the higher one obviously. What happened in the end?![]()
Do you mind I PM you for more info as someone who wants to get into a devops role in the long run?Fam, is this still a play?
Edit:
MSc in Engineering(Not all relevant to my current gig)
450K based on 3 gigs. Work in IT (devops). shyts a grind for real.
2 are household names, all 3 publicly traded. Got AWS certs. The come up is a bit of a finesse but i studied alot. Tbh, the 3 gig life is a bit unsustainable.
