I think the strategy of integration or white acceptance was terrible and idiotic for black people in ideological conception, execution, results.
That said ending government enforced segregation was necessary and good and fighting for legal egalitarianism for black americans was noble and correct.
Some how the two were morphed into the same thing though, and people lost their way.

We didn't get the difference between ending de jure/legally-enforced racial segregation,
versus advocating for "racial integration."

"Integration" as it has been practiced, essentially reinforced white institutional superiority.

Putting it in music show terms, the "integrators" didn't want to create Soul Train with Don Cornelius-- they just wanted
to perform, dance and sit in the audience on American Bandstand while dikk Clark became a billionaire.

The "desegregators" wanted to ensure that there were no laws or practices that would prevent Don Cornelius
from creating Soul Train.

As it stands now, Soul Train was the better show overall, and its legacy has endured longer and with more
impact than American Bandstand's.
