Yeah but the amount vs parrying and the counter attack bonus far outweighs it.

I wouldn't even want to attempt an early/mid game Mime without parrying. Sounds like a nightmare.

This must be something unique to expert.

I played on normal and rarely parried. Mimes were really easy too. Just break them and the fight is over. Even in the drafts and flying manor I just dodged. There were so many ways to get tons of AP, especially once you get to act 3. Most enemies either never got a turn or at most a single turn before they died.

There was only one boss I bothered parrying because I thought it looked cool, it wasn’t necessary at all though.

Yeah there's a significant HP and enemy damage boost on Expert. Plus some get extra turns.

I'm not saying it's impossible to dodge through Expert but fights would be a lot longer.

Side note, make sure you talk to everyone as often as possible at camp. There's missable quests, items, skills, etc. if you don't.

Also write in the journal.
