Nah but basically every year The Paintress appears and marks a number on that monolith.

The number goes down every year. So if you're 33, you die. The next year is 32, etc.

They send out Expeditions to try and stop her but none have ever returned, and the cycle continues.

You're the latest Expedition, #33.

That's basically the first 10 minutes of the game and the over all story. A lot more is revealed and explained as you play though.

Yeah idk if I fukk with the plot twists in the Act 2 ending.

It's still a 10/10 ass game so far but I wasn't a fan of where they took the story.

I’m just farming XP.. save go fight once… get like 1M xp… go back and save… going do this till I get enough bread to buy those damn pictos from the gestral here… anyone know an area to get chroma … cuz I’m broke as a joke

There's guides for that but honestly I just played the game and by the end of Act 2 I had more Chroma then I'd ever need. I'm at the end of Act 3 now and I'm sitting on like 1.5 million.

I didn't have a problem with it because it was heavily telegraphed in The Manor.

If you go to Frozen Hearts early you find a Manor room that has sculptures and paintings of most of the creatures and bosses in the game.

Plus various other rooms have paintings or drawings of areas from the game.

So I figured out early there was some "world within a world" f*ckery going on
