I had Katz yesterday. :banderas:

I need to experience more black sandwiches. Post spots in any of the 5 boroughs of nyc. Gonna put this on my to do list.
Katz worth it? That shyt deep in Manhattan for me and I heard it’s like $20 a sandwich or some shyt. It’s not a tourist trap?

When I go to the store I usually get a pastrami or honey turkey or a chopped cheese.

It's definitely overpriced, but that pastrami on rye is phenomenal. You should do it at least once. Bomb ass mustard, bomb ass pickles too.:ohlawd:

in america i feel like sandwiches in general are more regional. like the major cities got their own signature sandwiches. like cheesesteaks and roast porks are more philly than italian in general.
one i havent seen listed here though is half smoke. does that count as a sandwich?

His claims are still dubious.
Even so, based off of the article, it doesn't appear that black slaves had anything to do with the sandwich which originally comprised of french bread and boiled or fried oysters.

The pulled pork/brisket situation is still murky.
BBQ itself is an influence of african, spanish (barbacoa) and native influences.

This is how we do it in Tidewater, VA.

I’m pretty sure we created them because before the cacs and Asians figured out how to season and fry fish like us, you could only find these at church functions, fish frys, and neighborhood fish spots.

Throw some tarter sauce and hot sauce on them bytches and :ohlawd:
