How did Peyton Manning survive so many underwhelming playoff performances? His defenses weren't bad

Bringing up Brady is really a waste of time. Brady didn’t have to win games early in his career. Yes, he had to make some clutch plays but the team was not depending on him like the colts did Peyton. I hate when people bring up Brady. There are 2 Brady’s. Game manager lean on the kicker and D eta Brady and then the GOAT era Brady here he had to win games.

Brady had one game manager Superbowl the first 3 titles. The ones against the Eagles and Panthers he had great numbers.

It doesn't matter what players were on it, it matters how they also performed in the playoffs.
When a defense turns it up during the playoffs its usually the way to win the ship. Look at the teams who usually win it, the defense hits another level over what they do in the regular season.

I hate the boiling down of football success to a few players.
Indy's D was actually good in the playoffs which is the point tho

Brady was not asked to win the game. He was not asked to carry the team. Everyone contributed. When he was asked to do more later on in his career he started losing. Not his fault..he was a better player just didn’t win as much. So Brady’s wins later in his career are more remarkable IMO.

Nope. Average at best save for some years.
In the regular season they could be average.

In the playoffs?
That's literally not true. They gave 21 ppg in the playoffs, meanwhile the Pats gave up only 20.4 ppg

Why are ignoring the Panthers and eagles super bowl? And the numerous game winning drives he had between 01 and 05? And the high scoring games he had in that time frame?

You simply can’t look at stats in a vacuum.

there is no one on the planet that will say pats and colts D were on par during peyton’s. That’s utter nonsense. On top of that the D was just one element. Bunny was making game winning kicks and vanderjagt was shanking gimmies

The colts routinely had a bad defense in all those peyton years. The year they won the SB their defense finally nutted up but they let MJD rush for like 250 one game.

In 2007 colts defense let billy voleck drive down the field after peyton gave them theeaf.

In the 09 SB brees was like 30-35 all game.

2010 defense gave it up vs the jets after manning gave them theead.

2005 mike V missed a fg after peyton put them in range following bettis fumble

I could list moments like that for any legendary QB.

peyton was criticized heavily for his playoff losses

I always think its funny when people trying to push a narrative as if most of us didnt live through that shyt when it was in real time, this was only in the past 15-20 years lol

Its how you know we getting old and teenagers are out here sparking these convos :ld:
