How did Peyton Manning survive so many underwhelming playoff performances? His defenses weren't bad

Its how you know we getting old and teenagers are out here sparking these convos :ld:

Peyton didn’t get a pass for losing he got clowned for it all the time growing up. That comeback against the Pats changed things

This thread doesn't make sense. Peyton's entire career he's been called a regular season QB. No one ever blames his defenses. It's his defenses that won him Super Bowls. He played poorly in both.

I'm referring to recently, in the last 5 years post his retirement

I know how it was in his time, I watched him :comeon:

49ers..Braves..Celtics
2003 AFC Champ game.. Peyton threw 4 picks against New England. No defense was saving that.

2004 Divisional Round .. Peyton threw 0 TDs and 1 pick against New England. They scored three points total.

2005 he didn't exactly play lights out against the Steelers either. They only got 18 points.. Almost got a lucky break.

He finally got over the hump and took it to New England but it was a long process..

Colts' defenses were built to play indoors with the league and rush the passer. They weren't "bad" worst in the league defenses but they weren't elite ones either. In the playoffs they consistently got ran on. Multiple playoff games where they were getting gashed for 150+ on the ground.

The Steelers game Indy got unlucky multiple times, when Nick Harper (stabbed by his wife) didn't run Big Ben's INT back and the missed FG at the end. You want to go through each throw like "but but he could've/should've been intercepted!" :why: You can do that with any QB.

And LOL at making arguments trying to say Brady/Peyton had similar quality defenses, then posting 2003 Pats Defensive highlights. :why:

There is only one elite QB that can hang on to terrible defense excuse and that is Brees.

@NOSaintsFan02 @b. woods

We killed to have Peyton mediocre defense in Drew's prime.

Rodgers says hello.

He had All time horrible defenses in the playoffs. Its no coincidence that he won a SB when he had a legit defense. Just like Brees

peyton was considered a choke artist for a long time

even now, people are quick to write off his second ring

:yeshrug:

This 100%.

Peyton was called a choke artist back in college at U of Tennessee.

Steve Spurrier used to roast Peyton back then:

"I know why Peyton came back for his senior year. He wanted to be a three-time star of the Citrus Bowl."

Show me some stats cuz we literally had some of the worst defenses of all time stat wise. LITERALLY.

Breh, kaep broke rushing records vs packers in the playoffs. From 2011-2018, packers defense were allowing, on AVG, 34+ a game....on AVG.

Im not here to have a pissing match of who had the worse defenses. Both QBs have had shytty defenses most their careers.
