I have a better salary return on effort taking 3 months to get my CISSP and another 6 months getting CCDP than putting a year + to get the CCIE.

Not to mention I've been catching up on network automation through Cisco DevNet and following David Bombal.

There's just more shyt I'm interested in at this point than BGP, MPLS and DMVPN.

I def feel you with getting the CISSP & and learning automation now ...this CCIE shyt is on another level of fukkery :wow:

Since about November I been doing heavy python automation at my role (by choice). Now Im putting more effort into creating my own tools to take this shyt to the next level.

Do you touch BGP or MPLS in your role now? Just curious

My current role is more Core down to access layer: L3 switches, VSS, Eigrp as well as Site to Site VPN mostly. With some software version testing and validation.

You're going down the right path. Terraform, config management (Ansible, Chef, etc), Kubernetes, AWS/GCP is the now. CCIE is nice, but the salaries are going up for virtual infrastructure skills.

I'm not sure exactly how to learn configuration management. Any tips?

Honestly, you don't have to know everything about Cloud Networking, it's so vast now, it's impossible to learn everything. I personally just prefer to specialize in Cloud Security as I work for a cyber security company. You can still make over 100K and have lots of job offers. I am taking the AWS Security Specialty by end of may(jjob requirement). I already watched the acloud guru videos, now doing practice questions, then re do the labs etc.

Companies overpay for knowledge lol....if you really want to build something in the cloud, all the documents are there. Just read and follow directions..

Also I will add that many companies support cloud networking in lots of different ways. Some are strictly SAAS for cloud networks..(those companies will pay you good money if you have the fundamentals and can speak cloud to customers.

Companies are paying the company i work for thousands to configure something I learned off youtube. It's crazy!

Check this out :wow: . I was talking to my boy and he said if you learn these things well, you can make bucks. Once I am done with the AWS Specialty(to get my boss of my ass) my goal will be #9 to learn data privacy laws. I am going to get it on the low cause if I let my boss know he will knows that I am looking beyond my current team. Then knock out the CISA for auditing.

My goal next year is to work two remote positions with full autonomy and flexiblity. My boy is making a killing doing this shyt, he works three remote jobs making over 150K and puts in only 60 hours a week. I am trying to get on that.

Yup fam interviewing with a couple big companies a few months back kind of surprised me a bit how many of them are behind with this tech. Even having the ability to talk about these technologies can have these guys like :ohhh:

How do you even find these remote positions? I have a hard time finding any and how does he balance basically having his head in 3 places mentally at once?

Fellas i have a question for you all. Currently working as an It Tech studying for my CCNA. Taking 100-105 soon. I want to get into networking but i also want to get into the security side. After i get my CCNA should i go for the Sec+ or CCNA? My end goal is to have CCIE & CISSP. working in security dealing with networking.

Sideote: anyone have CCENT study guide and also Sec+?

He is highly skilled so companies bend over backwards for him. He has deep knowledge of cloud, kubernetes, ci/cd etc. Some jobs are bullshyt lol. You just need to find the right mix.

March Next year I want to transition to two. I could do it now if my current job allowed me to work remote but its only twice a week.
