I think I'm just going gonna have to start at help desk and level up from there

Its going to be hard to get a cybersecurity job without any experience. You mught be sble to land a SOC position. I would try to see if you can get a desktop support role and try to work your way to sysadmin position. Then maneuver into cybersecurity from there.

Why are you calling out sick? Schedule calls for lunch/break hours and leave early or come in late for in-person interviews. See if you can work an adjusted schedule, like come in an hour earlier so you can leave an hour earlier or something and schedule around that. You don't need to take a whole day off to find a job, but its EASIER and way more convenient when you aren't working.
The in-person ones are anywhere from 2 to almost 5 hours.

Got damn!!! You interviewing to be CEO?!? Why are they stealing your time like that? Well still work as many hours as you can. Tell your job you may have to be caretaker, temporarily for your sick, elderly aunt until you find a permanent one, so your schedule may be crazy. I got a whole real estate license on that lie.

So fellas, I am about to start upgrading my resume/CV and am probably gonna post it here when done for some critique. Just looking for some general tips.

I am trying to land a 9-5 Help Desk/Desktop Support/Tech Support in another city with better opprotunities for growth and advancement. All while attending an internship I landed which is a few hours a night coming out to about 15-20hrs a week on top of the job I am hoping to find. If I can't pull it in time I might just settle for whatever I can get in the city to put me through the internship. I need that experience more than anything... Especially since it's security stuff. I'll be attending school online as well so Feb-June is gonna busy as fukk for ya boy.

Now, about the resume/CV.

-Should I keep it one page?
-Any go to templates or layouts you guys like?
-I am getting some decent experience in my current Tech Support position but it really sucks... I hate sending up calls that I know the fix for
-To add to the point above: might be able to fill up my resume with some of this experience
-Cover letters for each job? Yes or no?
-I am already on that train of making a different resume for every position I apply for
-How do you layout a resume with limited IT experience? All my other job experience is retail, food business, and some in-between transitional jobs here and there
-Should I highlight skills such as communication and customer services? I did not pass my Sec+ (still gonna retake it) but was able to make some moves regardless

Please do, my position is client facing which a lot of times involves going on calls with clients to explain our product. My communication skills since I am not much of a talker but I can fake it for an hour or so.

The jobs with limited IT experience, emphasize communication, emphasize solving customer issues, emphasize good ratings on customer experience, if you had to manage anything, emphasize that.

I would do it. I personally don't like cover letters but entry level wise, I would do it. When I was applying for jobs, it sucked writing a CL and not hearing back but since you want an entry itwill not hurt. Once you get the experience, most of the times, they will come to you.

like someone says embellish it lol, everyone does.

One page, doesn't matter. 2 is fine.

See that's the thing, I gotta get the experience

Classic catch 22

True but if you meet the right people that shyt don't matter.

Knew a dude (he wasn't a breh tho) finished top of his class in a Cybersec course and landed a spot consulting with EY. :ohhh:

The professor was a recent grad from the college and worked at EY and after 6 interviews he landed a job. :gucci:

Dude never worked a day of help desk in his life and is still going to school.

I think I'm just going gonna have to start at help desk and level up from there

This works to, good luck brehs. I am just starting out as well.

Appreciated it, and yeah I am trying my best to highlight those skills. I hate talking to people but once I'm on that phone I am like:

But yeah, I am refining that shyt everyday and I think I'll keep the cover letters as I'm starting out. At work what I like to do is write some of the stuff I do or perform during my breaks when I am not studying and embellishing the fukk out of it on my resume lol.
