Duuuuuvaaaaal!!
maintenance of 3200

cutting numbers 2400-2700

eat within that range everyday for roughly 2 months, then reanalyze the numbers

if you follow the guide to the T(no liquid cals, 20/1 ratio of cals to protein) youll lose 1-3lbs a week

start a lifting routine as soon as possible

Thanks. Now I gotta find a meal plan that will help me to stay focused on this program.

Thanks. Now I gotta find a meal plan that will help me to stay focused on this program.

look at the food you eat first

i eat whatever I want...dont convince yourself that you need to immediately eat healthy. That will come as you start analyzing the ratio more

an Arby Big Montana sandwich is 700 cal 55g protein :pachaha: perfectly acceptable

my guide is fool proof. IMO look at the food you currently eat, then remove things that dont meet the 20/1 criterion. and eat what you like and add better options as you go along. Diet changes isnt a one time deal. Once you make this decision to be aware of your diet, the changes you make should be something you could live with for 30-40 years until due to age or illness its no longer feasible to eat certain food(ie you lose your teeth)

Me too....? Plz?

I'm not so good at the calculations and numbers and stuff. I've got back in the gym recently and I want to make sure I'm maximizing my potential right now.

I'm pretty good with eating, I feel like, and I eat the right things and it isnt painful because I've got a decent repertoire of recipes, but I feel like i"m always fukking up my portion size, nahmean. What do you think acceptable portion size would be for someone my size? I'm pretty big and I go hard in the gym still, but I've always wanted to get cut. Never really put in the effort, but now is pretty much the time in my life where I think I"m gonna hop on that

therefore for your sake(the overweight reader) we will ALWAYS assume you are sedentary, using this calculator which ive found to be one of the more accurate you will always assume only 1 hour of moderate intensity, 3 Very Light, and 20 Resting for optimal numbers.
Estimated Calorie Requirements

after inputting your data, you will be given a maintenance. To lose weight you must subtract 500-800 calories from this number to find your range for the day. You will NOT eat more than the number highest(500 less than maintenance) and no LESS than the lowest(800 less than maintenance)

2800 maintenance

cutting numbers between 2000-2300

:wtb:

as far as eating, portion sizes are defined by calorie amounts not by what it looks like volume wise. Understand that its CALORIES that matter and nothing else. Find out how much food it is(ie 8oz milk = 90cals) then compare it to the 20/1 ratio

if the ratio of overall calories for the meal is greater than 20/1 then you cant eat it

its pretty simple, when i say you can eat anything that follows the rule, im serious. PREFERABLY the lower the ratio the better. Especially when lifting. 20/1 is the extreme minimum g protein not the optimum

I gained a ton of weight. I was like 212 and I got back up to 258. Over the past 3 weeks I've started back monitoring my eating and using myfitnesspal and I've gotten down to 250 with 0 exercise because I'm carless. Well I do walk my dog but until I can get another car that's it.

I really wanna get back to the gym but I can't rush out and buy any pos car so I'm stuck. It sucks to have gained that much weight back. I feel disgusting.

I eat the same things I was eating all along I just use portion control now so the calories don't go above 2300 or so. I also cut my liquid calories down from everything I drink in a day to 120 calories a day.

I'm probably gonna chew through some muscle but that's gonna be collateral damage to lose some weight. My actions just go to show that most people that bytch about how hard it is to lose weight are full of it. Weightloss is simple math and the more you weigh the more food you can eat AMD still lose weight so its actually easier the bigger you are.

You have one thing fundamentally wrong though, while a caloric deficit does induce weightloss, without some sort of growth stimulus, your body will burn a great deal of muscle per lb lost as opposed to 80%+ fat

Skinny fat shouldn't be the goal, deficit + some kind of training is the answer

Bite the bullet and lift breh :mjpls:

A lot of good information.
I don't recommend fasting as a way to control caloric intake for weight loss. Not because it doesn't work and not because there are health-related problems with it, but because it is similar to going on an Atkins diet. It works great with fast results but once you come off it, you have a tendency to yo-yo back up and even beyond what you started off at.

I had to lose weight, won't go into why, but I forced myself to fast once a week, plus I jogged a couple miles on that day for even more effect. Well, I did lose weight for what I needed to; but once I stopped the once-a-week fasting, I started going up in weight slowly. It's been years since I've been at my target weight. I started to seriously focus on my weight loss last May 2011 and decided to do it slowly with a diet I can maintain as my lifestyle diet. So, I started losing weight and lose about 1 to 4 lbs. a month. It's slow but my weight doesn't yo-yo like crazy. I'm still not back at my target weight, I've got about 11 more pounds to go. I've weight lifted most of my life. Lately, I have been doing more cardio due to recent surgery to my shoulder.

Good luck to everyone trying to lose weight and peace.

my caloric deficit was over 1000 calories today. myfitnesspal says i should eat 2550 calories a day and my fitbit says i burned 3700+ calories. i only ate 2300 calories. all i did was do my normal daily activities and took my dog for an hour walk for 2.5 miles. in total i walked 7 miles.
