First, let's start with the good.

Last october, I stepped on a scale and weighed in at 285 pounds. I'm only 5'11" and since I haven't been active really in a few years I generally looked like shyt, felt like shyt, and ate like shyt too. Sometime around January of this year I decided I was going to eat better, then in February I decided to start lifting weights and working out at a gym my uncle runs. Thanks to a better diet and some work I'm fluctuating between 215-225 depending on how dedicated I am on a certain week. I'm getting hella compliments on the weight loss and even though I still have a belly I feel like I'm in range of getting rid of this fat completely.

Help me out brehs.... I want this so bad, not for any female that comes my way, not for the side perks of being in shape, but just to know that my mind and my body are both as finely tuned as I want them to be. Ultimately I want to be down to sub 200 with maybe 15% body fat or lower. My calorie intake on a good day is around 2000, red meat and pork eliminated from my diet. What would you suggest to help keep my calories down and my gains going?

are you against pork and red meat for any specific reason? religion? personal belief?(veg)

eitherway, in the guide there is nothing you "cant" eat(except liquid calories and sweets)

once you make the conscious decision to COUNT calories everything is simplified and dieting no longer becomes a chore youve got to embrace it. The idea is simple

Know What You Are Eating

as long as you know this, and you know what overall number you have to stay under. You can eat anything under the sun

fix your diet first and foremost

then start lifting

cardio(atleast in my opinion) is irrelevant

it can increase your deficit, but youll never know by how much because its person to person. IMO save your energy and put it towards lifting.

I got rid of those things in an attempt to change my eating habits and make myself eat more salads, pastas, and chicken meals. I'm starting to run into that problem where it's a skeleton diet and there isn't any real variety but that's also because I spend too much time at work and not enough cooking. Changing a lifestyle takes a while when your funds are low.

I'm getting pretty good with this as well, the only times I truly eat badly now are when I'm inactive (on weekends mostly, I have to break that habit with more gym time). I've had a lot of junk food this weekend and exceeded my diet but I'm refocusing starting tomorrow after work. Sometimes I have to remind myself just how bad those extra servings are so that the next time I consider them.... :scust:

too put in perspective of what im saying

i eat fast food 75% of the time

the basis of this guide is to illustrate that overall calories are what matter for weight loss, not the individual aspects of the food

if you feel better eating healthier do whats necessary, but realize that overall calories is proven and time tested

i would tone it to 1700 but thats just me

as far as getting protein

1)consider a protein shake
2 scoops @ 20-25g + 20oz milk will end up being 60-70g protein right there

2)what do you like eating? i eat steaks, tuna packets, chicken wings, pork chops you name it

key is emphasizing the meat serving, add a dinner roll or a small baked potato

it doesnt have to be complicated if you focus on the protein first when building a meal

strong weight loss though from 220.

I think the protein shake is going to be the move. I don't eat red meat or poultry, only fish.

Typical meal these days:

Breakfast:
1 Chobani Greek Yougurt http://www.chobani.com/products/c/nonfat/

Lunch:
Salad with grilled fish (Wahoo or Talipia)

Afternoon snack:
Half Apple or Small Banana with 2 tblsp of natural peanut butter

Dinner
Baked fish (Salmon, Arctic Char, Talapia)
Black Beans or a Baked Sweet Potato
Spinach Salad

im 2 inches taller than you and 151lbs

kooked is inch shorter than me and 165, but hes had years of lifting

i would worry less about your weight and make a decision if you want to cut remaining fat(which you have plenty of, nothing personal) or starting a bulk

IMO cut to 160 and make a decision from there

i think youll look dramatically different, but youll like it more than youd think

The sooner you adopt a proper barbell routine the better

Lifting is the difference between losing weight and being cut and being frail

So yeah get in the gym asap
