The thing is a lot of these people don't have any concept of history. That's the danger of short form video intake. I'm not like a scholar, but I was telling her that the 1950's were just a 10 year period, set against the backdrop of the post war boom, and the GI bill and a lot of other things. It was a unique moment in history. Just like each decade before and after.
I said some shyt like I was pretty sure the early 1900's and the late 18th century were pretty rough for women, like the claim stakers or whatever they were called, frontier people, settlers. The women had to do a whole lot of shyt. It wasn't a soft life at all. It was like cattle farming and chopping wood, milking cows, taking care of kids with malaria all kinds of crazy shyt, like the Oregon trail.
But also, between her and I, it was the classic definition of romance two very different people, with different opinions, who connected regardless of all that.
