You could pinpoint when social media leapt to the phone, widespread wireless broadband (need that bandwidth for the media on mobile so atleast LTE), algorithm change on IG, all happened in like 24 month window in mid 2010s..

Social media and what they have been able to do with the algorithms is crazy. Tiktok is basically subversion, psychological warfare at this point, the greatest most efficient algorithm ever created. Ideas and people that used to be on fringes of internet or stuck on message boards go hyper viral on tiktok.. Ideas spewed by the likes of sheraseven and such that were on message board level blow u on tiktok and become idolized on tiktok. You ever lay next to a chick scrolling tiktok? They are literally being hypnotized by algorithm and these are things that have been in motion for yearsss already.

At some point it will be bought u but that generation would have been burned thru already. And this is not just relationship stuff either, Im on different message boards (sports, business/real estate, off topic like this) , and info that used to be usually on there only, jumped over to social media years ago and has become. wide spread. I have friends who I wouldnt considered tapped into social media but since its on their phone they send me things now.. The way info is widely available even if wrong and unchecked is incredible. "Male advice" gets checked and scrutinized immediately tho. Right or wrong.

That video is everything wrong with what modern feminism has become in the black community. Culturally black some black women have adopted the independent don't need a man mindset that came along with feminism and capitalism affording women in the workforce. But then on the other hand still maintain the traditional standpoint of the man being the breadwinner and pay all the bills. Yet in that household they want to call the shots too and if they work keep all their money for themselves. In other words they want to have their cake and to eat it too.

Feminism in a forced matriarchy in which the men are disenfranchised at an enormous rate is simply incongruent with the idea of black men being the oppressor of black women and arrives juxtaposed to the larger actual oppressor which is the Caucasian race. White women used black women to help push feminism for their own fight against white men and failed to delineate to them that it was an not a huge issue within the black community as a whole since our oppressors have been BOTH white men and white women.

They were able to simultaneously garner support that we were the oppressors of black women and cause infighting and mistrust amongst each other to the point there are black women who believe they would be safer near a bear than a black man...all while helping white women win their fight against their oppressor white men. The pay gap between white men and women shrank exponentially, while the gap between black people and white people has stayed large with an much higher number of black women in higher education compared to men. The results? White women got what they wanted which was to be close to equal with white men and oppress everyone else alongside them.

Meanwhile the black women who fought on the front lines with them for feminism received nothing in the fight against white supremacy and were used and forgotten with the black male losing on all sides as a result. Now look all over social media for the general sentiment gender wars shyt is all over the net in the black community...

So yeah, we are fukked...

Also, texting as the dominant form of communication (because of smartphones), the sheer ability for apps like Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, Twitter, Snapchat, to transmit information that rapidly changed communication forever. Nothing could previously reach that many people, that quickly, and without any filter, or time delay, not newspapers, or TV, or speeches, not books for sure.

Then, the platforms themselves incentivize outrage, or attention getting emotional statements. Social media preys on the natural human want to be seen and liked and admired. Forums do that to a degree, likes and daps, and all that, but since we are essentially annonymous, its different, but you still see that kind of behavior at work.

Since mid 2010s like skyrunner1 said, it's been the dominant form of communication. It's performative, and like any new tech, at first people used text kind of like emails, or letters, they used the new tech to improve on the old, which was longer form, somewhat in depth messaging, as the technology progressed and many people adapted, it become shorter and shorter, to where we use memes, emojis, short videos to convey emotions. The main thing is that the phone and all the communications mediums within it, is no longer separate, it's no longer just a communication device, it's an extension of the self.
