Honestly? I started going to the gym with my little brother. I'm obsessed with learning about the knowledge behind things, so I researched all kinds of gym routines, nutritional advice and everything to do with fitness for years. But I never consistently worked out and always found it difficult to properly start. My brother on the other hand, does not give a fukk about details, he just wants to go and do stuff. He doesn't have any routines, doesn't know any and just takes action. He'll go and use the machines or someone else will give him a routine. He's the perfect motivator in that regard - you just wanna do stuff. So when he said he wanted me to go gym with him, I had no reason to say no!
Additionally, I just had to do something. I was already weak due to being dyspraxic. It belies my appearance (I'm quite big - 6'2, 200lbs+) but I have no athleticism, extremely poor muscular endurance, big belly and not great cardiovascular health. The hard part for me was just starting it. Since I've started, I'm obsessed. I cannot stop

. They say it takes 21 days to build a habit. So far, I think I've picked up a lifelong one of health. Next stop for me is some form of bodily expression - maybe a sport, martial art or dance, or tricking/parkour even.
