I'm stilll in the gym doing my thing. I'm at a bit of a standstill, running a 6mph pace and can only do 30-41 push ups. I see my abs a bit more but I weigh 230lbs so I haven't made any real progress the past few months.

One highlight tho, I got sick of doing the same routine exercises and my shoulder was feeling ok so I gave the smith machine bench press a try for a first time in many years since I fukked up my left shoulder bench pressing. I was able to do 315lbs inclined. I will try to stick with it and work my way up to 350lbs hopefully.

If you've been stuck for a couple months, the culprit is your diet.

Also....why the smith machine? I'd suggest going lighter on free weights. Smith machine restricts movement to a single plane and limits strength gains in important stabilizing muscles.

Yeah but I'm not really worried about my diet. having a top notch physique isn't a priority right now. increasing my endurance is.

I fukked up my shoulder many years ago bench pressing. the pain is excruciating even when I bench 135lbs more than 5 times.

What good are these stabilizing muscles for? I see people bring that up all the time to shyt on machines but you will hardly ever encounter a activity where you need those stabilizer muscles when it comes to activities unless your a athlete. as long as the machine does it purpose of building muscle, that's all that matters.

If that's the case...what's the point of ego lifting 315+ on a smith then and comment that your gains are stalling? :what:

Then got aggy and try to defend the smith bc you can't ego lift with the barbell? :skip:

You said you aren't about looks...you might as well do calisthenics since you waived the white flag on barbell and are going for endurance. Why risk any more potential shoulder pain? :patrice:

As I said in the previous post, tired of the same routine. typically I either dumbbell bench press but my gym but my gyms db only go to 100 and I can incline db press 100X15, maybe even more.

We also have a machine chest press but it only go to 265lbs. I can do that X10 too. you call lifting heavy weights ego lifts, that's just your insecurity coming out.

My gym is only $5 a month no contract. I refuse to sign a gym contract again, even for better equipment.

I said having a top notch physique is not a priority.

Its amazing how baffled people are when I tell em I only do like 4 sets of biceps a week and they like: " :ohhh: how you got such big arms then ? Your curls & shyt are impressive, I bet you do much more sets"
People really dont understand that you aint gotta do biceps exercises all the time or hundreds of sets to make it grow.

So after experimenting with a P/P/L routine with high volume hitting each body part once a week I'm going back to fullbody. Mainly cause I don't feel I am doing enough for my upper body, plus I will only have time next semester for two lifting sessions. I prob will stick with a full body routine till I'm done with school, which should be a while lol.

Although I'm going to stick to a 5 x 5 as my volume mainly because I have done primarily 3 x 10 since I started lifting, so focusing on strength sounds like a good idea to me. Also my hip has healed nicely on its own so I'm going to primarily do walking lunges and hopefully when winter break starts I can get back to squatting.

Strong lats are so important :wow: my new form cue for Zercher squats is firing my lats hard as hell when unracking the weight and keeping them tight the whole time. Cleans up the movement big time and feels much easier. Got 7 reps on my last set of Zerchers with 365lbs last night. (5x5 workout). My theoretical Max should be around mid 400s

Got 455x3 on a back squat. Remember to BREATHE y'all. Grinded the 2nd one out but could tell I had a triple in me so I go into full rage lift and missed my breathe cue.

Maaaaaaaan.

I had a moment like the boxers do when they get hit clean on the chin and lose their legs as I re-racked the weight, and of course I didn't have the rails up so I'd have gotten smashed if I fainted. I was a lucky son of a bytch today I swear.

my homie had an incident like that last week deadlifting 500 lbs...he luckily made it to a bench nearby where he proceeded to babble about seeing stars and shyt lol
