Gloves can slip when going heavy on weight...especially nikkas with sweaty palms. Since I've stopped wearing gloves for the vast majority of my lifts, I have gotten callouses, but my forearms have gotten bigger and I have better grip. No more letting go on pullups b/c of grip...etc.
