From what I've read Askari and their Congolese equivalent were not mixed-race. While Leopold did use mulatto mercenaries/conscripts, they were not a solely mixed-race force by any stretch of the imagination, and were still largely of one "ethnic group."Educate me, how's it untrue?
I can cite at least four colonial wars the colonial British army fought in Africa, where a lot of soldiers were mulattos from the Caribbean and elements of the West African Frontier Force. And we can also examine those King Leopold used in committing mass genocide in Congo.
