I watched Bay of Blood for the first time last year and F13th was definitely influenced by this movie.

One thrid of the film is a F13th beat for beat. Theres alot more to it that separates it from other slashers to makethe movieits own thing.

I’ve been watching some obscure horror films from the 60s and there’s some violent, bloody ones. I just watched Blood Feast. Terrible fukkin dialogue, but it’s bloody and gory.

Even though I may shyt on the Reddit horror sub, they have some nice recommendations from time to time.

I got bored with r/horror. Most of the time they give the same recommendations in every thread. Most of the movies they talk about are only after 2005.

Clown in a Cornfield was a disappointment, and I was only expecting mid. It's a check box slasher with unimaginative, lazy writing. The best scare setups are the pranks, and the only good kill happens to a clown. :snoop:

I thought CiaC was alright. Something like Ma or Thanksgiving was better imo. It's still better than Until Dawn and way better than Its a Wonderful Knife.

It's a wonderful knife could've been so fun. They fukked it

I don't do it as much lately since I pay for too many streaming services. But man just watching random horror movies on Tubi

:francis:

Especially when they got sequels like Camp Blood.
And then there is this one crew of people that stay making campy ass horror movies. They got this blonde dude I just wait for him to show up on some

Man...I just watched the new drop on Shudder "Best Wishes to All" and...wtf.

It's the weirdest horror of 2025 hands down. A lot of it is goofy, a bunch of scenes are pretty disturbing, and the score is absolutely elite. I genuinely don't know how to score it. Most of it felt ridiculous but with an obvious allegory making sense of all the alt-reality shyt going on.

It's a go in blind kinda watch. None of it should work, but I feel like this one's gonna linger with me for some time. It's old-school Japanese horror, where you can chuck reality out the window because you're in the uncanny valley now.

Think, the Killing of a Sacred Deer meets The Eyes of My Mother...but with a bunch of silly shyt.

I wanted them all to die. :russ:

Even after the trauma unload, I could not find myself pulling for the lead here. Felt like an R-rated Disney Channel Original Movie Slasher. Weird.

Slow and bleak watch, getting old sucks. Loved the performances. It was fun watching Lithgow have the time of his life be despicably evil again but I probably won’t pay it another watch anytime soon. The scariest thing to me wasn’t him or his little puppet…it was the lack of regard by the care facility. That shyt is real.

Who rules?

Now lick her a$$hole.

fukkin’ wild, lmao. Not ending it on Lithgow getting a taste of his own medicine with the empty inhalers tho feels like the biggest missed opportunity.

Good looks here. Got a little too silly at times to completely win me over, but I liked it for a feature debut and Yuta’s on my radar now. It did come across like a throwback J-horror for something recent and I mean that in the best way with how unnerving the atmosphere was, especially that first half hour or so. As messed up as it was, I like it as an allegorical coming-of-age story.

Really enjoyed watching Furukawa’s performance over the course of the film. Someone who starts off so innocent only to get wrapped up into a descent into madness. Wanting to break tradition while desperately trying to hold any strain of humanity left in that family, but…to no avail.

The film presented me with a world in which the pursuit of happiness is ultimately at the cost of exploitation and the main lead having to come to terms with such reality, which isn’t unfamiliar territory. I like it but I would be lying if I said it was an underlying message, it’s practically banging the audience on the head with it throughout.

The way bro flew off the ground like a ragdoll after getting hit by that truck tho. :mjlol:

Yeah, it definitely went goofy at points. They really just kept going for it, for better or worse. The amount of dread that builds up in the first third of the movie is golden.

She really cooked with this role. Shout out to everyone else having to act normal in awkward circumstances.

"Underlying" is definitely putting it lightly. The conversation with her long lost aunt makes sure anyone missing the point can't possibly ignore it. Conformity, Exploitation, and Blissful Ignorance are themes in damn near every scene. I think there's probably something going on about Japan's aging crisis too, but I'd have to rewatch to form any deep thoughts on it.

That dude got bounced like crazy, and then everyone just treated it like no biggie :dead:. The birthing scene made me grossed out, but got me laughing too. I need to find some director interviews to see how intentional the comedy was. I felt some Miike influence, Visitor Q in particular. Or maybe even some Beau is Afraid in the absurdity and humor.
