It already hit, regrnt park and Wilson heights and "jungle"

Areas like moss park etc are next

Possibly even jane and finch as their shutting down the 24 hour hospital on the 18th and leaving a poor community a extended travel tonget medical now
Define Gentrification. Are you speaking of when more people of European decent with spendable cash accumulate in these areas? Because otherwise Moss Park has always been a mixture of culture.

Not to mention it consists of about 3 buildings only and they haven't announced a tear down to my knowledge, they just rebuilt a small park there for the children. I'm from the area.

:scust:

Anywhere but on the mountain or stoney creek, forget it...Between downtown and east to the QEW is :trash:
and this thinking is why NOW is the time to buy downtown. They are building new condos and are starting to go through a gentrification process in downtown Hamilton.
The new Go station that links to Toronto(and Jobs there) was huge for the commuting.
THe LRT that they are building will go from west to east downtown Hamilton.
New Condos, restaurants and shopping being built and planned.
Get in now while it is still relatively cheap.

Ya I agree, if you play your cards it could be a good investment. I plan on building equity and have someone rent while i live at home. Cant afford a house right now and have more schooling to do.
THere is nothing wrong with buying a condo. Most condos are NOT 400-500 sq ft.
THey can be a good investment in to the market, whether youlivein one or rent it out.

gentrification isn't necessarily a race thing though. Ppl like to equate them but its not true.
Its just ppl with money(mostly white, especially in cities like NY) buying up cheap impovershed properties then making it unaffordable for those ppl to live their anymore then developing new stuff

Yeah. That makes sense. You're right about the people equating it to race, had me a little confused

One flashy condo goes up in a seedy area, rent rises, drives out low income people who can't afford it.

Where Fairview mall is used to be a somewhat seedy area

Then they put up one condo then a few years later there's like 7

Now rent there is high as hell

Got folks at finch and Keele thinking yay subway, just a matter of time

Saw a splashy condo at Keele and wilson the other day

I'm still not understanding, help me out friend, are your saying people will be driven out of Moss?

Condos have already been erected all in Regent, a block away or less. The Moss consists of 3 large subsidized buildings which I haven't heard any plans of being torn down.
Also, there are a fair amount of OG Regent Park residents that were moved into the new condos still living on subsidy, add the reputation of the area... Are people that eager to move there? All along Sherbourne is still junky town.

Again, Fairview and Moss/Regent two different things. You still hearing about the crime and violence of the latter to this day.

In due time, they will renovate and put the people in those locations elsewhere

This is how it works.

The city and province needs money
Can't afford to have prime locations subsidized or metro housing

Sure, that makes sense financially but where do you place the "unwanted?" The community centers, shelters etc are all still in that area. I see what you're saying but I think it'll take a good while. The renovation talks of Regent began when I was still living there back in '03. Things are still coming together now.

It takes time which makes me wonder what some people are doing when stuff like this comes up? Some people need subsidized housing/government housing but so many people just make it a permanent lifestyle instead of jetting out. It's so sad!!!

Like anything else in this world, poverty also begins as a mindset.

Don't get it wrong, a lot of people work everyday and are honest people there but when they come home they do what many people not living in subsidy do, which is indulge in entertainment rather then building themselves.
