rap is music and thats how music is. a genre that was born and sustained from rocking over already made records. if you want it to be such a technical science so bad with all these laws, then technically the whole genre is fake and based on biting.
just saying, saying ghostwriting doesnt count disqualifies a lot of so-called classic shyt and a lot of history. further, you cant have the chronic in your top 10 then disqualify twista, its the same genre. either the rules apply or they dont.
i understand the pride and the purist shyt i mean i got my criteria too. but i was enjoying the pure shyt before purists came along. and i never met a purist more hip hop than me. so its an annoying unnecessary movement that only exists to point out faults and keep infighting going.
Twista has a persona, much like Snoop did or like Drake does now, they have a certain vibe that comes through on records. So much so that its kinda easy to write for them. How many of us have fukked around and sang something like Drake would sing it but in a clowning type of manner. Same way JD wrote that rap on Usher's Nice & Slow that sounded like Twista.
If you're a behind the scenes cat that makes money by participating in writing pools you love an artist like this, especially if they are on a deadline but are having writers block/lack of creativity. You take on their persona and write something as though they would, I can see how Twista says that shyt would be fun, fortunately he waited until after his run to participate in the pools. The Coach Carter song, the So Sexy track with Kelz and a few others I know were written, but those were money grabs. Obviously he had help on Slow Jamz, but that was moreso for all of the R&B references that were made in the song, thats typical during the creative process. Not sure what the other songs are but I know of a couple cats that made a grip in the early 2000's writing "Twista styled" rhyme's for other artists that were relatively successful, I'm sure Twista felt a kinda way about that.
Why do you make this assumption with just Drake and not someone like Common?
If Rhymefest wrote Glory why doesnt the Coli question BE or FF where Common sounded his nicest?
That's the crazy shyt. I know this shyt got nikkas who actually got skills and practice to hone they craft feeling crazy. On some "what's the point" shyt.
The way I see it, if a rapper has ghostwriters it takes away their status as an artist, not the album.

It ruins the album because culturally it defied what it presented in artistry.

The Chronic isn't considered a classic because of the lyrics though. More of the production. Were people aware of Dre using writers back then?
Twista need to tell us the songs,i need to know, lowkey I might faint like a ho if he was to say Adrenaline Rush
Note to all interviewers, just stop asking, all its doing is leaving doubt.
Rappers sidestepping the question, and Im left to wonder if they sidestepping so not take a shot at Drake or this new generation of rap fans,or if they sidestepping because they use ghostwriters too
Then with Twista he flat out says he did for 3 or 4 songs, but doesn't tell you what songs![]()
the braintrust mainly. there was a point, right around the soundbombing era when people just starting separating this from that. this is hip hop over here and that is rap over there and all kinds of stupid shyt. we never needed that, you know we already knew what was what. hammer sold a zillion records we werent buying that shyt.Do you mean hip hop infinity.com fans or their braintrust being mislabeled as hip hop purist.

The biggest thing for the rappers has always been flow and deliveryl

What new way of thinking? Don't you automatically assume that whoever someone says is the dopest is the same person they listen to the mostnikka thru out my years of listening to hip hop I've had a million conversations about who people feel is the nicest or the dopest rapper. Dating all the way back to elementary school so stop wit this only "purist" care bullshyt. Its one of the reasons alotta nikkas started writing bars in the first place. YOU don't care. And that's fine. But just cause u subscribe to this new way of thinking when it comes to hip hop don't mean u can dismiss all the people that dont.
