One thing I will concede @Kool G Trap is that the quality of meat in this country is very poor and dangerous at times. That's for sure.

Feeding these animals bad diets, using antibiotics, living conditions, etc. are not something I agree with at all. I also definitely understand the vegetarian argument about the effects on the climate and long term sustainability. All valid points.

I've said this since SOHH: one of the things I don't mind splurging money on is quality, naturally fed meat (pause). Obviously, if I am eating at someone else's house or out in town, I'm at the mercy of the meat they buy.

You over here talking about how fruits are bad for you I can't take you seriously, hell yeah I'm gonna roll with the guru over that silly shyt you're promoting.

I was raised by a pure vegetarian so I saw its benefits first hand, even though I eat meat I don't overdo it. You don't need sophisticated scientific studies to understand how to eat healthy.

I'm on a diet right now where I'm consuming 140-180g of protein a day. No shakes, no supplements.

So give me a breakdown of how you get that without meat & protein shakes or kick rocks. Show your work.
Not that I'm a full blown animal lover, but I can consume a decent amount of protein "daily" without ever touch meat...but I mess with diary

eggs, oatmeal, yogurt, beans, ezkiel bread, beans, pasta, cottage cheese, soy milk etc...

It's really not that hard...

For breakfast I usually do like 6-8 eggs whites, 4 cups of oatmeal, 4 slices of bread and / or 2-3 cups of yogurt....

That alone gives me like 60+ grams of protein for the day, in one meal...

I've dropped pics in the past, in the "gym' of my breakfast...I can go days without eating meat(pause), while maintaining a solid frame at 5'9 175lbs and a lil under 10% body fat

Brother, I linked the studies showing that high fructose consumption has multiple effects on the body. I have no problem with giving fruit to children. My child eats fruits. I've eaten fruits before I lifted or swam/ran for energy boosts. I will eat a fruit here and there. It is not meant to be eaten exclusively as a meal by most people. You won't die because of it, but you aren't going to get the type of physical performance and body type that I aimed for. It's just the truth.

This is your brain on sugar: UCLA study shows high-fructose diet sabotages learning, memory

God damn, you've been tricked by these companies that you need that much protein. Too much protein forces your body to extract calcium that you need, and it's bad for your liver. I already stated that you can get easy protein from the following:

1. Almonds
2. Cashews
3. Peanuts
4. Broccoli
5. Spinach
6. Kale
7. Seeds
8. Beans
9. Oatmeal

And I'm sure there is more sources for good non-animal protein but I'm lazy at the moment and don't want to research it.

But, if you want to overload on protein go ahead, but I'm telling you it isn't beneficial to muscle building (there's a ceiling of protein intake that you get to easily [about 50 grams a day]), it's an illusion by these companies that you need anymore even while weight lifting.

No company influenced me. I used to wrestle and play football. I know what kind of macros I need to bulk up. I'm sure eating too much protein isnt good for you over the longrun, but I'm in a lifting cycle and need the nutrients. Like I said, cant get em just eating beans and Greek yogurt. As far as calcium goes, I'm eating kale and spinach 2 times a day, plus a couple heads of cabbage a week. Veggies have their purpose and so does meat. Meat is the best source of natural creatine in addition to the protein content.

Of course its possible if you eat eggs and drink milk. Vegetarians and light meat eaters make sense. It's the vegan diet fad that everyone seems to be pushing that I'm questioning. I'd like to see what their testosterone (and estrogen for the soy eaters) levels look like compared to meat eaters.

Too much protein can still hurt your body by stressig your kidneys. I'm doing research, for myself, connecting kidney issues with health problems. The thing is the problems start small, amd most people dont connect kodney problems
with hormonal problems but they are connected especially when you see that your adrenal glands are right on top of your kodneys

As far as too much protein stressing your kidneys, that really only applies to people with pre-existing kidney disease, otherwise a high protein diet is generally beneficial.

If you don't have kidney disease, eating a diet too high in fats (could lead to high cholesterol) or too high in carbs (could lead to weight gain) is worse than a high-protein diet.

Not gonna get in on the keto diet vs. vegan diet things, whatever floats your boat. :pachaha:

Though most vegans I"ve seen look kind of unhealthy, and I'd be worried about my cholesterol on a keto diet, but that's just me.

That man said about 4 things already debunked, especially in regards to "if you eat too much protein it causes cancer" which is not true. Also, these athletes (which are a minority) who SWITCH to vegetarian diets have already had the benefits of eating animal protein and fats as children and young adults.

These dudes are the worst. They neglect to mention a lot of these athletes turned to a vegan and vegetarian diet well after they ate animal products. That absolutely matters, especially during growth.
Eating too much protein has been shown to turn on the genes that caise cancer, and age you. This was shown on bbc with an episode about how to eat to prevent aging. Google bbc food fountain of youth.

EDIT: The program was called BBC Horizon 2012 Eat Fast and Live Longer

@acri1 High protein diet is not good in the long run for your health because it stresses your kidneys, imcreases comstipation, and turns on genes that cause cancer. Protein is supposed to rebuild your body not be used for energy, fats and carbs are for that. Even then carbs are only used for energy when you do a lot of thinking or a lot of physical work. for everyday normal activities fat is the main source.

:ohhh:

:yeshrug:

anyway, red meat should be avoided anywhere in America. Pork should be avoided anywhere on Earth.

I understand the Pork thing because of religion. I also agree that most red meat here is garbage status but places like whole foods and other stores like it have a good selection of meat for sale, pork and poultry included. It is highly expensive though but I don't mind spending extra on it. Better than other things I spend money on.

I basically live at whole foods.... that shyt is expensive tho. But yea there is no good pork regardless of religion. Too much red meat will kill you though.

I try to get things at other supermarkets to cut down the costs. I'll go there usually for the meats and fish, and other things. Keeps the cost down.

We won't derail the thread by arguing this again.

Too much red meat will kill you though.

Honestly, it's my favorite due to taste but the science does show that too much of it does cause cardiovascular problems. It should come before Fish and Poultry for sure.
