Except Jordan didn't.

Kobe most certainly took a lot of his post-play from MJ (that is undeniable), but he added to it: more counters, more shot-types, and better footwork. Not only in his desire to be better, but the climate of the league forced him to be - as I said in my previous post, he had to deal with zone defense, and better defenders/schemes than MJ did.

I THINK IM STARTING TO LIKE U AGAIN

Dream would put all opposition in a Hurt Locker on that baseline with his moves.

I don’t see any current ball players asking Shaq for help with their post game, people are still knocking on Dreams door for developmental help.

Better 3 point shooter yes
Better mid range nah
And how does Kobe have better footwork than mj when Jordan did all of those moves 10-15 years earlier
When it comes to guards Jordan’s post game is unmatched

Kobe had a better post arsenal then MJ. MJ played like a guard in the post (post fadeaway or post drop-step-n-go), while Kobe played like a big man.

I'd say Top Tier

Dream
Kareem
McHale
Kobe
Chuck

Duncan & Malone were better face-up high post players, than they were back to basket. Mailman was just gonna bang you 3-4 times then hit that fall-away. Shaq was raw in the post. He didn't get a mini arsenal until after they won first chip, and then he still only had like 3-4 moves.

KOBE IS A BETTER SHOOTER PERIOD

WHAT U FAIL TO REALIZE IS THAT MJ IS JUST ONE OF MANY PLAYERS KOBE STUDIED

KOBE HAD COUNTERS AND FOOTWORK LIKE HAKEEM - MJ WAS GREAT BUT KOBE TOOK IT TO ANOTHER LEVEL

I may have written something other than "some" people say it's McHale at first but then I edited it because I want to stop being quite that divisive. :pachaha:

McHale had a lot of moves and his freakishly long arms were as much an asset as some other guys' athleticism. But his post game was like something that happened on the side, a one-on-one matchup between him and some poor helpless defender. Hakeem's post game could be the central point of an entire Finals. That's what I feel separates him from a lot of the other guys on the list - some guys had only a few moves but were extremely effective (Shaq, Kareem), other guys had great footwork and tons of moves but didn't score at a very high efficiency, McHale had a ton of moves AND he scored at a high efficiency, but only Hakeem put it all together against entire teams and won titles on the back of his post game as the central component.
I can see why you picked Hakeem. I still feel its really close between Kobe, Hakeem and MJ

Hakeem was probably the best at not just using post ups to score but run an offense. To a lesser extent KG could do this, perhaps he shouldve been included in my poll. But it would be kind of rhetorical to put him there when Hakeem did everything KG did and alot more, and won championships

Besides crossovers there’s not one move that Kobe did that Jordan didn’t, maybe you didn’t watch mj to know
This is false, and again that whole Kobe stole everything from MJ argument needs to be deaded

I see it like this, yes its true Kobe took alot from MJ. So, whats wrong with that? Should he had studied just role players like a John Starks or Jeff Hornacek?

I already said it in here but Kobe is a basketball historian. He knows the game going back to its origins, he loves the sport just as much as anyone else ever did

MJ took alot of moves from Dr J. Who gives a fukk? Only haters that use this garbage take to try to bring down Kobe. Kobe had more post moves then MJ

MJ's advantage over Kobe was he was more physically dominant...bigger hands, a little bit taller, probably slightly more athletic and more durable. Kobe was often playing through injuries

Skill wise Kobe is every bit as good as Mike and probably even a little better

Can you show me some of the moves jordan took from dr j? I'm curious to see especially since aba games weren't even aired like that back in the day.

show me receipts like this ,there's like 4-5 videos of kobe doing identical(especially post moves) moves as jordan

Didnt MJ say himself at some point that he was influenced alot by Dr J? I dont have the receipts for reasons you said, in regards to many ABA games not being televised. So i have to go more off what ive heard

Everyones gonna take from their favorite growing up. I can do them turn around fadeaways just like Patrick Ewing, its been embedded in me for about 25 years

My point is that theres nothing wrong with MJ taking moves and style from Dr J, being influenced by him. The same way theres nothing wrong with Kobe doing alotta things Mike did
