Why are there so many young brehs/brehettes so against working overtime?

Overtime a scam? 
I'm salary so I barely crack 30 hours a week and get my shyt done. But my boy at UPS is at $40 an hour, $60 an hour for OT. He stay putting in an extra 10-15 hours per week. Brings home probably an extra $500 a week after taxes, tell me how thats a scam

It all depends for me. If that job $18/hr overtime ain't worth it. Them Trade Union jobs worth it though because a lot of em got a base of $40/hr
obviously, they watched the ones who worked hard and didn't get rewarded, the ones who lost their jobs because some larping a$$hole wanted to improve the balance sheets or another larping a$$hole wasted tons of money on a vanity project and was let go with a golden handshake. The ones who ruined their health and suffered a heart attack, whose marriage broke down and whose children hate them. You do not get rewarded for working hard, even the successful people know that. They just don'admit it, because that would ruin the image they want to portray.
Over time is cool for a short period of time, for a defined goal but I’m good on working OT all the time.
Never seen a hard worker that ended up in the same position as someone who didn’t work hard. You’re full of shyt

OT came in clutch when I could do it, I would throw on some Larry June and do numbers...
No drive for these young kids. When I was in my early to mid 20s I would usually take on OT when it was offered. It’s not like I was doing shyt when I was off and I had young legs.

I have a friend that’s convinced that most of these younger folks are not working because they’re getting paid off social media. I’m like that’s the case for SOME people. The whole generation has not “figured it out” and there are some of them that are willing to work and want to get jobs. I’ve worked with interns all week and they want these jobs. I said this earlier in the thread.. If one person don’t want the OT or the job, another one will step up.

Gotta go home to an unchecked wife, bad ass kids, socially awkward in settings, sit in your car for an hour before you go in the house.
It’s a mixture of balance & enjoying the quality of life and NOT being a clone of their boomer / gen x parent. This gen is trying to work smarter. (Covid reinforced this as well with WFH)

I remember when I used to be a security service tech, making $20/hr and made $30/hr during OT. I would work 50-70 hour weeks thinking I'm making bank
Then I found out PMs make 140k/yr with bonuses and realized it doesn't matter how hard I work im never gonna make bank working here especially doing OT
Now I work 35/hrs a week and make roughly the same thing.
