It is such an issue in the first place because it is...Elementary, middle school & high school were diverse but they were still majority white(I would say they were all 60% white, 40% "other,")College was the same way,& for grad school I may be considering an HBCU, I'm not sure yet.Why do I think colorism is such a problem?Because I have had these discussions with other black women.I have witnessed their truths.I've been to black psych student meetings (with primarily black women),I've been in a black feminist theory class with primarily black women,I have black female friends,I've had this discussion with black family members.I've heard real stories from REAL black women, & I have seen the same or similar stories online. It's a real issue that I realize many black women go through.
Yes, there are also many black women who don't care about colorism as well. However, if I know this is still a struggle that some black women face,I WILL take up for them, period.I will always be passionate about the advancement of black women.
I can tell that you're one of those white speaking raised in the suburbs black girls who picked up a Maya Angelo book in college and decided she was going to be a black feminist.

Even though I already knew she was.
& Yes, I did check him.A light skin woman may be light but she is still black & you are not going to disrespect black women in front of me.I really wonder why do some colorist black men do this? They are so quick to start talking sh*t about the color that the girl they are trying to impress is not.
(although I wouldn't necessarily call myself a feminist).
